Who can relate to the hustle and hassle of getting out of the house in the morning? Up at 6, and by the time you’ve walked the dog, sorted the kids, packed your lunch, got distracted by the pile of washing piling up and answered a few work emails, you now find yourself with 10 minutes to get out of your PJ’s and out of your house,  not channelling that ‘slept under a bridge look.’

Here are 5 tips to fast-track your beauty routine.

Perfect a 5-minute beauty look.  Often you can do a few steps for eyes cheeks and lips, that give you a glow up without the full face treatment. For inspiration check out this 5-minute make-up look from our favourite French makeup artist Andreea Ali.

Multipurpose Products: Opt for makeup or skincare products that serve multiple purposes. For example, a tinted moisturiser can provide hydration, sun protection, and light coverage in one step, saving you time in the morning. NZ brand Glow Lab Facial Tinted Moisturiser is a great example and you can pick it up from the supermarket on promotion for as low as $16.00  Similarly, a lip and cheek stain can eliminate the need for separate products for your lips and cheeks.

Prep the Night Before: Prepare as much as you can the night before to streamline your morning routine. Lay out your clothes, pack your bag, and gather all the beauty products you'll need. This way, you can simply grab and go in the morning without wasting time searching for items. Rotating beauty storage is the BEST for this!

Invest in Time-Saving Tools: Invest in beauty tools that can expedite your routine. For instance, a rotating makeup brush can blend foundation and powder quickly and evenly, while a hairdryer with a diffuser or curling attachment can dry and style your hair simultaneously.

Master Quick Hairstyles: Learn a few quick and easy hairstyles that you can do in minutes. Sleek ponytails, messy buns, or simple braids are all great options for styling your hair quickly without sacrificing style. Keep some hair accessories handy to add flair to your hairstyle without much effort. If you're looking for inspo, we've linked to this clip done by Lainy Marie below, but just use the ol' google box to google 5 min hair styles and you'll be sorted quick smart.

Great tips. It takes me 40 min to get my makeup and hair done - in fact, I like to take my time with the makeup! I find the longer i spend on it, the better it looks and the longer it stays... On the days when I don't wear full face of makeup, lipstick is a must.

Multi purpose products are great, I only buy moisturiser with SPF already in it.

Prepping the night before is key. And worse case scenario, I take my makeup to work and do it there.

Prep the night before is huge! As is tinted sunscreen!

I watched the video and Andreea mentioned t2tan? It's an instant tan, but couldn't understand the brand she mentioned. BR ladies do you know the name of the product?

I like to sleep as long as possible and therefore need to get ready as fast as possible. I like multipurpose products, and 99.9% of the time I just wear a ponytail.

Great tips. Preparing the night before and using multipurpose products (or less products) would definitely work for me.

Have a go-to makeup look. I do that when I'm rushed. And I mostly just braid my hair.

19th March, 2024

I try to keep things simple and always know what I am going to wear ahead of time.

I like those ideas. I do put lots of product on my skin at night in the hope that my skin will be ready to hit the ground running in the morning. I also get my clothes ready the night before Lisa-Lou. I hate choosing clothes - nightmare.

My best tip is definitely preparing everything the night before. Know what outfit you are going to wear and what hairstyle you will have. I only wear bb cream or foundation so I only take a few minutes to do my face.
