In A Hurry? 5 Minute Beauty Tricks!

Article by BR Tabatha

We've all been there right?

Your mum, friend, husband, partner, whoever: How long are you going to be?

A disgruntled you: 5 minutes.

Your mum, friend, husband, partner, whoever: You said that 5 minutes ago.

Here's our time saving beauty tricks and tips that you can do in 5 minutes or less.

Hair.

  • No time to wash your hair?  Keep some dry shampoo on hand.  Use it to refresh hair when you don't have time to wash and dry it and then consider styling in an 'on-purpose messy up-do'.
  • If you don't have time to wash you hair, have no dry shampoo and a bit of a greasy root situation, don't panic!  You can use a tiny amount of talcum powder, face blotting paper or even absorbant kitchen towels to soak up excess oil.
  • A lightly backcombed quiff is a quick and easy way to add a bit of drama to your hair when you have no time.  Quiff and ponytail.  Quiff and bun.  Quiff and loose bedhead hair. It's rock 'n' roll, and nobody questions rock 'n' roll!
  • Plaits are cool.  And the messier the better.  Practise you plaiting when you have time and we guarantee in a pinch you'll be able to create a look in under 5 minutes when you need to!  Experiment with fringe/hairline plaits, fishtails, random thin plaits etc.

Makeup.

  • No time for to apply a full face?  If you can get away with it, use a BB cream and concentrate on your eye make up.  Wide open eyes add life to your face.
  • Invest in multitasking products, such as all over colours, lip/cheek tints.  Perfect for when you don't have time to rifle through your makeup stash.
  • Opt for cream formulas.  Cream eyeshadows, blushes, bronzers, highlighters and lip colours are quick and easy to apply (using your fingers even!) and they blend easily, so are great for adding a simple splash of colour.

Skincare.

  • However pressed for time you are, never skip moisturising!  Your skin can go the day without cleansing and toning, or even your wrinkle-filler cream, but always moisturise!  Moisturised skin automatically looks healthier and if you're going to apply BB Cream or foundation, dry fakes will make it look just awful.

Other.

  • Keep a couple of teaspoons in the freezer to quickly reduce puffy eyes in the morning.  Makeup might be able to hide dark circles, but it can't hide puffiness!  Press them to your puffy eyes for 5 minutes and look refreshed!
  • If you have no time for a shower in the morning (quelle horreur!) cold water is the quickest way to revitalise sleepy skin (and give you a kick to get moving).  Try keeping a hydrating mist in the fridge (or a spray bottle of plain old h20). Brace yourself and spray.
  • Tidy up your brows - whether you do it yourself or go get them threaded, in just a few minutes you can look completely different!

When you only have minutes how do you get ready?  What tips do you have that can be done in 5 minutes or less?

BB cream is my absolute lifesaver!! I can happily go through the day with only BB cream and mascara - life is so busy, these are amazing products to keep things moving (and pretty!)

I really do need to invest in some dry shampoo. Sometimes i will skip the hair wash in the shower but later in the day i always end up regretting it. I too need to plan what i am wearing the following day i dont always lay it out ready to go but as long as i know that it is there and ready to go im good!

A little bit more than 5 minutes, but I recently realised that my daily meditation is also the perfect time to let just-applied nail polish dry, to let the hair dye work wonders, or to let my face mask do its thing. I may even do all three together next week while I'm in Om! Multi-tasking inner and outer beauty :)

Some really good ideas here. I love the teaspoon tip.

Moisturise, foundation with a focus on the eyes always enough to get away with it although I must confess to getting up extra early and laying out clothes for work at night.

At first I thought there was a typo with a few teaspoons in the freezer I spent like a solid 10 seconds rereading it and thinking a few teaspoons of what??? Haha great tips I'll be sure to try the teaspoon one.

Nothing wakes you up like a cold splash of water to the face followed by a quick face wash! I'm also definitely an avid fan of moisturizing no matter WHAT - can't beat that clean, freshly moisturized feel and I feel yucky all day if I dont

If I've got a special event or something important on then I'll get my clothes out and try plan what I'm going to put on my face. If its just work I quickly powder + mascara, whip my hair into a messy ponytail and chuck my uniform on - quick and easy!

Some awesome tips here i use the dry shampoo and bb cream when in a rush

Completely agree! There are two things ive never skipped, no matter how much of a rush im in and that is moisturising and plucking my brows. It definitely makes a difference.

Some great tricks and tips I need to invest in some dry shampoo! I'm like Colleen if I know I need to do something early I'll get my clothes ready the night before and have a cold shower when I get out of bed, I normally straighten my hair the night before and tie it in a high ponytail and quickly iron out the kink the next day, and makeup wise I use bb cream, patch up my brows and use the same brush to do my upper eyelid with the brown, use bronzer on my face and on my eyelid then gently smoke it upwards, apply mascara and skin tone coloured eyeliner to my waterline and that takes around 5 minutes all up :)

Great tips, definitely going to try the teaspoons in the freezer :)

Haha a splash of cold water, moisteriser, BB cream a lil bronzer then a messy bun ohh and a touch of lip gloss. Done and dusted. I loved all the tips above.

I totally agree with this article! Brows do frame the face and that's why I never go out without my brows filled in. Awesome tip about the spoons in the freezer! Definitely need to try that out! Other than that, I usually just do skin care, foundation, eyeliner and a bit of blush. I've got blemished skin, so I feel more confident when I have some extra coverage.

I definitely do follow lots of these tips. My little daughter doesnt like waiting long, so I try to get ready super quickly!

The cold water splash is a must to wake me up when I have had no where near enough sleep... amazingly fast pick-me-up and my skin thanks me for it.

I also have a super extra-hold hairspray that I spray if I haven't washed my hair and it looks just a bit on the greasy side, scrunch and Voila
