Are All Oils Created The Same?

How did we ever live without applying oils to our face? How did we not know about the goodness an oil could infuse into our skin? These days I can't imagine going a day without applying an oil of some sort. And it seems to me that the range of oils available continues to grow. For a long time rosehip oil, with its ability to hydrate, reduce the look of fine lines and skin damage, was considered gold for the skin. And still is, for good reason. But rosehip is now, perhaps more than ever, being blended with oils we'd not previously heard a lot about - and it left us wanting to know more!

When I think about argan oil I immediate think to the bottles of the stuff I've put through my hair. It's brilliant for reducing frizz and adding shine, but it's also a brilliant oil to add into one's facial regime as it's full of Vitamin E and fatty acids, which makes it super hydrating, while fighting off the free radicals that lead to the ageing on one's skin.

I do enjoy a good grape - in fruit form, liquid form, and now in oil form. Grapeseed oil is rich in vitamins C, D and E, and linoleic acid. Being antioxidant rich it does, as you'd expect, fight free radicals. It also offers protection from UV rays, and promotes collagen production and the firming of skin.

As good for your skin as they are to eat, the oil from the pomegranate seed is a wonderful addition to a skincare regime. High in antioxidants it helps to fight damage from free radicals, while hydrating skin and promoting collagen production. It also contains both elligic acid, which helps prevent UV damage, as well as punicic acid, which also helps prevent UV damage while fighting free radicals and reducing inflammation.

Who knew the seeds of kiwifruit could be such a wondrous thing? Until now I always thought of them as a mere annoyance that needed to be dealt to with a firm hand and much floss after having a kiwifruit munching session. Kiwifruit seed oil contains a hefty dose of vitamins C and E as well as Omega 3, and it works to keep the skin moisturised while fighting off free radicals and promoting the production of collagen. Brilliant stuff. I'll never scowl at the seeds again.

So many good oils. So little time. No wonder we were instantly smitten with Evolu's New Radiance Rosehip & Friends. It takes all those fabulous oils and delivers a raft of goodness to the skin. Working to even out skin tone, increase radiance, reduce the appearance of scars and lines, all the while hydrating and delivering the skin a vitamin boost.

Now that right there is the good oil.

So do tell, what are your favourite oils for your skin? Have you tried any of the less known ones? Are you keen to include oil in your skincare regime? If you already are, what's been your experience? Chat away...

I didn't know that about kiwi fruit seeds and pomegranate oil!

25th September, 2017

I have used Rosehip in the past but this Evolu oil looks really good.

I recently started using rosehip oil and I use oil cleanse to wash my face

I love oils! Ive tried rosehip oil alone and the smell is horrible, i have also tried chia seed oil and a blend from akin. I have also tried a custom blend with geranium oil and other goodies in which i use for an overnight mask on my face. But really i use oils everywhere including my hands and my good old buddies the stretchmarks :-)

That is awesome, a all in one facial oil, that would be the kind of thing i'd be interested in trying

Love a good oil! I do like chia seed oil

15th September, 2017

I looooove using oils on my face, so far my favorite has been jojoba oil, but I find myself trying new ones out all the time. The latest one I tried was a chia seed oil, but I didn't find it did anything special for me. I'm still on the hunt to find one I can regularly stick with.

I'm out of oil I really need a refill.

I use seeet almond oil - it's great for people with oily skin and it's great for dark under eye circles. I also love flaxseed oil - it's great for anything inflamed (pimples, eczema etc). Both oils can be used for any skin type. Love them.

When it comes to plain oils my fave is rosehip but I do prefer to go for rosehip oil blends. I've tried also tried jojoba and it feels really nice and light so I really like having it in a blend. Pomegranate and kiwiseed oil interests me I think I may have tried moisturizers with a bit of those oils added but I've never tried an oil blend with those two.

I love macadamia, sweet almond and apricot kernel oil gor my face. Also Bio oil. It works really well on my skin. Coconut and argan for my hair.

I've tried the Evolu Rosehip & Friends and really really like it. I wasn't holding my breath because I've tried straight rosehip before and it was too heavy on my skin and made me break out. Not this blend though! Very balancing.

Ive tried Rosehip and Chia seed oil, i do find they have a bit of a smell that sometimes gets to me but maybe i just need to find one that is the right blend with something that i don't find offensive?

14th September, 2017

I adore oils. I use rosehip, argan and my favourite macadamia. So good for dry skin.

14th September, 2017

I have used several rosehip oils mainly because they are so good for my dry skin -I do struggle with the scent and would love to use a mix that lost that overpowering scent of rosehip. I keep trying different ones and hope to eventually find one that does has a nicer scent

Have to agree on the smell! The Evolu one is much more citrus, a lot less old hay smelling.

Maree I use Crop pure macadamia oil. It comes in a huge 50ml which lasts for ages.

I've got this blend and I like it a lot more in terms of smell. To me the A'Kin rosehip oil smelt like old hay that had been sitting a while, whereas Evolu's smells citrus-y and much more fresh.
