Snacking. I'm a fan. In fact, I'm a grazer from way back. Eating a plate of the same food bores me. I like to meander about. A little strawberry here. A handful of chips there. Half a bag of pick and mix nuts. Half a bag of Party Mix. Three blueberries for health... You get the picture. Well, it turns out that snacking has evolved. No longer is it just about munching on whatever you fancy whenever you fancy it, now it's about grabbing a moment here and there throughout the day to pamper yourself. Yes, beauty snacking is a thing.
Possibly the only good thing to come out of the pandemic, beauty snacking arose in the wake of more people working from home and needing to find ways to take a moment for themselves throughout the day. So how can you introduce a little beauty snacking into your routine? Read on...
Eye Patches
A good, hydrating gel patch can work to minimise the look of puffy eyes and fine lines. Best of all they're the perfect beauty snack! Just whack them on when you sit down at your computer, or while you're folding laundry, or working out in the garden, then peel them off after twenty minutes to reveal prettier peepers!
Face Masks
A face mask is the perfect beauty snack. It takes a minute to pop on, then twenty minutes to do its thing while you smash out some work, and then a minute to remove, leaving you with nourished skin that glows.
Moisturiser
Is your body moisturising game lame? Keep a tub of moisturiser by your computer, and whenever you need a moment's break away from the screen, take that time to hydrate your limbs! Alternatively, keep moisturiser on your coffee or side table in your lounge, and take the time to use it while binging your favourite show.
Getting Lippy With It
Our lips might be hidden by a mask most of the time while we're out and about, but that doesn't mean we can't take the time to care for them at home. If they're feeling a little dry and flaky, take a minute out of your day to massage them with a lip scrub, then soothe them with a balm.
Pedicures
Since beauty snacking is meant to be a quickie, manicure's might not be the way to go when it comes to treating yourself, but there's no reason you can't quickly trim your toenails and pop on a bit of polish, then get a bit of work done or catch up on the news while you wait for them to dry between coats!
Massage
Hours hunched over a screen can make a mess of your face, neck and shoulder muscles, which is why a wonderful beauty snack is to keep a massage tool and/or a muscle cream on hand to spend a couple of minutes working on the tension that can accumulate. A jade roller for your face, magnesium cream for your neck and shoulders, or even one of those fancy-fangled vibrating machines can work to give your body a break when you can't get out to exercise.
The Lunch Hour Soak
This one's a little extra, but if you're working from home and have nowhere to be, then why not go the whole hog and draw a bath, pop in some bubble baths or a bath bomb, light a candle, grab a book and relax during your lunch hour. It will calm and centre you, and if you give yourself a blast of cold water via the shower at the end of your soak, you'll be off to a refreshed, revived start for your afternoon.
Better for you than a caffeinated drink at 3pm, healthier than a handful of lollies, beauty snacking is here to stay, and we're here for it!

I've often masked while I've gotten ready for bed, brushed and flossed my teeth and then hoped in the shower and rinsed it off. I have a habit of moisturizing after I shower but I should probably use handcream more often since I wash my hands so much.
