There are some makeup trends I can not fathom. Frosty blue eyeshadow is anathema to me. I do not understand overlining one's lips to the point that it's obvious. Also - metallic lipstick. It's a trend that's as cyclic as the moon. You think it's gone and then it pops up again. And I don't understand why, because... who's buying it? I don't see people walking down the street wearing metallic lipstick. It's not on the lips of the lasses or lads down at the pub or in my local cafe. It's not even worn by my friend's fashion-forward teenagers.
This is not to say that I don't see the point of metallic lipstick. If I were going to an alien-themed party, I could see a metallic lip being an excellent choice. See also Tin Man at a Wizard Of Oz-themed party. Editorially, metallic lips make for eye-catching, creative photos. On the runway, they can work with a designer's futuristic style, or even act as an interesting juxtaposition to a more pared-back, neutral fashion range. However, in real life? I'm just not seeing it - literally.
BR favourite, Angelica Nyqvist, side-eyeing metallic lips.
And it's not just me, either. Recently I was watching a YouTube video from Angelica Nyqvist, and in it she bought and tried on a metallic lip from Melt Cosmetics. Much like myself, she found herself pondering who was buying the metallic lip products, and why companies keep bringing them out.
And there's the rub, if companies continue to make metallic lippies, then surely that means someone out there is buying them. Regularly. But who? It's not me. It's not my friends. Nor is it my friend's makeup-loving teens.
Which leads me to wonder... Is it you? Are you a lover of metallic lips? And if so, what about these gleaming bullets (or tubes) of goodness, sees you reaching for them time and time again? What colours do you buy? Where do you wear them? And am I missing out on a makeup look that would actually rock my world were I brave enough to give it a go? Let me know...
Are metallic lips your jam? And if so, why so?
Or does the metallic lip look leave a bad taste in your mouth?

No, it's a bit too dramatic for me.
