Our AVON Task Force have put the first of their products to the test - the True Colour Eyeshadow Duo. Described by AVON as "duos of fashion foward colours, two shades compliment each other perfectly to create a fabulous finished look of high impact colour."
So how did our Task Force rate the product?
Packaging:
AVON have definitely won our team over with the packaging of the product, with all of the Task Force reviewing it favourably.
"Its plastic, feels quite cheap but again understated and stylish." - Abi
"It actually reminded me a lot of M.A.C cosmetics outer packaging... they have emulated the best design features in the packaging produced by the more "high-end" cosmetic brands, and produced a very chic and tasteful compact" - Miss Aimee Jean
"Firstly I found the packaging of this product really nice, very sleek and simple. It has an excellent mirror inside." - SarahAshling
"It was a sturdy, sleek compact and it opened easily. It wasn't too big or too small" - Emily_Anne70
"This Avon Duo is packaged nicely in a sleek and beautiful black compact that has a push button to open and a very effective mirror on inside of the lid" - Micht
Contents:
The Task Force were slightly divided on the contents of the compact - the size of the shadows and the applicator.
"The applicator is sturdy, foam at both ends, one quite fat (almost a little too big) and one more normal, a little pointier but not quite enough for any real definition." - Abi
"Great for travelling with the size and it's all you need for a nice smokey eye look" - Emily_Anne70
"The brush included with the eyeshadow fits in well with the overall look and feel of the compact, and has a different sized sponge at each end, so to allow greater contouring with the colours. Avon really have thought of small details when designing this product!" - MissAimeeJean
"The squares that hold the shadow itself may not be the biggest as you may expect but its sufficient for someone who wears eyeshadow sparingly." - Micht
The Colours:
We sent each of the Task Force a different colour combination to trial - so how did our "Pot Luck" eyeshadow draw work out?
"I was lucky enough to receive an eyeshadow duo in Grey Matters which includes the shadows Pink Glow and Silver (BR knows me too well, because when I opened the package I was so so happy to see these colours - definitely the duo I would have picked for myself)! Pink Glow is a light baby pink colour, and Silver is a medium silver/grey pigment, and both have a hint of shimmer to liven them up." - MissAimeeJean
"I am trialling the duo ‘Warm Cashmere’ and that consists of what AVON describe as peach and iced coffee. The colours look like they would complement each other and are very natural and neutral looking, with the hint of a sheen." - Abi
"For my trial I was given Teal Attitude duo, the colours are "peachy" and "turquoise glow"...very pretty at first glance but together I don't feel they compliment each other." - SarahAshling
"The white sparkly colour was suuuuper pigmented which is good because it's a lighter colour! The matte black wasn't as pigmented but that suited me because I hate blacks being too dark as it makes it much easier to use too much!" - Emily_Anne70
"The colour i got to trial is called "Retro Glamour" and is basically - violet and baby pink, i personally love those colours and feel they suit me so naturally i was pretty excited to try it..." - Micht
Application and Wear
The most important part - how does the AVON True Colour Eyeshadow Duo perform?
"I really like an understated eye, and I found that this Duo was perfect for creating a subtle eye. However if you wanted a really bold eye you would need quite a bit of product on the brush, and really work on layering the product. For me the subtlety really worked. This is definitely a combination of eyeshadow that could easily be worn casually during the day, and dressed up at night. The perfect Duo if you ask me!" - MissAimeeJean
"Both colours are so light that they are barely there, how natural are we trying to be! I tried to apply more but the formula doesn’t seem to like you doing that! When applying it’s almost a little crumbly and there’s quite a bit of fall out onto the lashes and then once it's on, it just won’t blend." - Abi
"I wore the peachy colour all week as a base along with my MAC woodwinked which worked well together. I tried the turquoise in a smokey eye and also as a liner effect but just didn't feel the colour suited me (hazel eyes) or was overly pigmented. - SarahAshling
"They were really blendable as well especially the matte black which was awesome! The colours were really nice as well and complimented each other perfectly." - Emily_Anne70
"I found it to be nice and light and understated... if you want bright outstanding eyeshadow, this would not be for you... if you prefer more of the subtle look, i would say the duo is great for that...Also, the back of the box in which it comes gives instruction on how to apply the eyeshadow which is brilliant for someone like me who always gets confused with what colour to put where!" - Micht
Any Tips?
"I used a fluffy brush for the lighter colour and a small crease brush for the darker colour and it worked perfectly!" - Emily_Anne70
With 8 different compact duo's there really is an Avon True Colour Eyeshadow Duo to suit everyone, and I would definitely recommend that you find the colour pair that best suits you and give it a go! - MissAimeeJean
"Use a good primer on the eyes as I did find that without it it creased." - SarahAshling
All in All...
AVON True Colour Eyeshadow Duo has held it's own pretty well with the Beauty Review Task Force. Like most products it's not perfect for everyone, and there are a few niggles with it. But it seems if you find the right shade and the right application technique, it might be a great eyeshadow to add to your collection!

I don't remember what alot if the eye shadows were like but I found a review online if one that consisted of two purple's in the duo. I love purple and the photos of it looked great. - I don't think I'll be able to find one though. I am fussy with how pigmented something is though it seems some are great and some are not
