Four months ago we asked for your opinion on Beauty Subscription Boxes - are they great, or a great waste of money?
Just in case you're not familiar with Subscription Boxes, here's a quick recap:
Beauty subscription boxes are a (normally) monthly box of goodies that are delivered direct to your door, for a fee. They'll generally be a mix of samples, 'generous samples' and even full sized products. There are boxes for just about everything, from beauty products, fashion accessories, crafting, food and kids clothing.
Some beauty boxes focus on a specific area, ie, cosmetics or skincare; others will contain a mixture of products. The key to subscription boxes is that you do not know what you're going to receive, only that it's value will be more than you've paid for it.
Well we're curious about just what it is people love (or indeed loathe) about Beauty Boxes - so let's get right to it.
Is it the box or the products that you look forward to the most?
By the box, we mean do you relish the thought of getting a gorgeously packaged box in the mail, like a present from a secret admirer? Do you enjoy opening a beautifully wrapped parcel and exploring what's inside? Would you feel a little disappointed if you received just a basic courier package, no matter how much you enjoyed the products enclosed?
or;
Do you only really care about the products inside, and no matter how sumptuously packaged a subscription box is, can you not help but wish the provider had paid more attention to the products inside? Would you be happy to receive a no frills courier package with a surprise mix of full sized products?' Especially if the RRPs genuinely exceed what you paid for it?
We really want to hear your thoughts on Beauty Boxes - what ideas / features would make your ultimate Beauty Box? And what are Beauty Box no-nos to you? Do you tire of products you can't readily buy in NZ or does it excite you to trial products from far-away lands? Does it rub you the wrong way when you read RRPs on products you can find no further information about?

I think it is lovely to get special wrapping but if the contents are not special it is a let down so the initial impact is lost. If there had to be a choice the product inside is more important. Under promise and over deliver is always a good idea.
