Behind the scenes of the TRESemme 365 project

Behind the scenes of the amazing TRESemme 365 Project

How often do you change your hairstyle? Do you change it as often as you change your clothes?   Or,  do you just scrape it up in a top knot, or Pony, day after day, and be done with it?

If you've only got a repetoire of one or two  hair styles  that you ever wear, guess what? You’re actually guilty of   “sleep styling” (who knew?). Sleep styling sees us prioritizing our clothes over our hair, changing a top or shoes daily, but only ever alternating between one or two hairstyles.

TRESemmé discovered that when it comes to hair,  43 per cent of us go for 'down and natural' while 23 per cent opt for the classic pony, always! The reason being, that we often feel we don't have the skills to 'do our hair' and we're often reluctant to use products, even for a tiny tweak that could change standard to stand-out!

And this Beauty Reviewer’s, was the insight behind the Tresemme 365 project. A yearlong project designed to stimulate our thinking and inspire every day NZ girls, to think and try different styles.

Now before you start chuntering all you busy people, that you just don’t have the time to think about one more thing in the morning (hence the aforementioned sleep styling), this isn’t about “hard”. This is about giving us inspiration for small hair wins, which can just make all the difference.

Meet Anna-Lise she’s the kiwi girl who has the lofty task of trying different styles for 365 days!

She already has a hectic job, and a hectic life, but by her own admission, she needs to be challenged to go  out of her comfort zone when it comes to her hair.

As part of the TRESemme 365 project, Anna-LIse has accepted the challenge to post an instagram pic of her hair, every day for a year!  Regardless of how it looks, or how busy she is!

"I'm hoping to learn that styling your hair each day, with a busy work schedule, is simple, achievable and a fun way to mix up my personal style to reflect my mood, which in the past has only been displayed through my outfit choices."

She’s going to have a bit of help when she needs hair inspiration from hairstylist Luke Bettesworth, but this doesn’t mean she’s going to be swanning down to his salon every morning. Luke will be on hand to help Anna-LIse with her inspiration, but essentially the hair choices she makes will be her own.

So what say you! Do you need to step out of your own sleep styling habits? Or are you out of the mould and already changing your hairstyle as often as you change your shoes?

Tell us your thoughts and if you are keen to get out of the sleep styling rut, check out Anna-LIse’s daily instagram post and get inspired!

Sounds like a fun idea! I would be keen, but too scared - too busy and too much hair to deal with. But I have been wanting to change my hairstyle, just even some more casual ideas would be good!

I have naturally very curly frizzy hair so I always use my straighteners first, to get rid of frizz and then will either straighten or curl it into a style so have a bit of versatility. And I'll wear it up and to the side when at yoga or relaxing. But I still probably only have 5 different 'go-to' looks, so it'll be interesting to follow Anna-Lise's 365 hairstyles!!!

My hair is crazy! Therefore I definitely don't get into any different hair styles, its usually up in a pony tail, or let loose!

7th March, 2014

I pretty much have the same style everyday - though occasionally I mix it up with a plait through my fringe.

I have short hair so I am very limited to the amount of styles I can do. However, this has inspired me to ask my hairdresser for other styling ideas.

I either have it down without anything done to it or have it in a ponytail. It is difficult to think about your hair in the morning, anything past brushing it just seems too much hassle - but a good hairstyle can really make you feel good!

I have tried to change my hairstyle but then gave up as I felt I was always running short of time and didnt have the inspiration or skills. So now I just stick to my boring pony tail which I sometimes spice up with a "poof".

I have 2 styles - up or down. I never make time for myself as I'm too busy organising the kids in the morning. I also have to say it's the same with doing my daughters hair, the same style everyday. I will be very interested to see the different styles Anna-Lise comes up with and it may even inspire me to change my ways. Well done Anna-Lise!

Yes so me, I use to always make an effort but now it's either ponytail or plait which I do hate especially since I grew my hair long again so I could do more with it but I don't. Maybe I should take a page out of her book and try do something different at least once a week anyway.

Oo, this will be so good to follow! Right now (basically since I started uni) my hair is down and straightened every day! My alternative 'style' is when I haven't had time to wash it and do a pony tail... :-s Like some below having a 14 month old doesn't help on the odd occasion I have 'tried' mid styling it has been pulled down! Here's to inspiration!

I'm in the don't have time or skill club! I have a 7 month old who destroying my hair as soon as she can get her hands on it so the old ponytail seems to do the trick, if that fails its the donut bun. Tried, trusted and quick!

7th March, 2014

Guilty as charged! My hair is in a chin length bob - and that it stays! Some days I straighten it but as my hair's pretty straight anyway I'm not sure that really counts as a different style! Might be time to shake things up a bit!

7th March, 2014

Go Anna-Lise! I'm looking forward to seeing all the styles! I definitely keep to a couple of go-to styles to keep my morning routine fast so am interested in seeing all the different options and being inspired.

7th March, 2014

Yes guilty as charged.. I'm the biggest sleep styler I have long, thick hair. Most days it's up in a bun. I own a straightener but it rarely gets used only because I have no time to straighten my long hair. A high messy bun is what I work with most days.. Going to follow Anna Lise for some inspiration!

7th March, 2014

Wow. This project seems it was meant for me. I never wear my hair in anything but a ponytail. I definitely relate to the statement that I just don't have the skills to style my hair. I will follow this project and hopefully will get some cool ideas for some different hairstyles.

This sounds super fascinating! I occasionally go through a period where I curl my hair or straighten it but then after comes months and months of the classic ponytail or letting it down (aka too lazy to do anything but brush it). I'm not very inventive when it comes to hair, seeing as my hairdressers like to lop off more than I ask for, but that's just excuses and laziness! Hopefully Anna-Lise will give me plenty of hair inspiration. :)
