Behind the scenes of the TRESemme 365 project

Behind the scenes of the amazing TRESemme 365 Project

How often do you change your hairstyle? Do you change it as often as you change your clothes?   Or,  do you just scrape it up in a top knot, or Pony, day after day, and be done with it?

If you've only got a repetoire of one or two  hair styles  that you ever wear, guess what? You’re actually guilty of   “sleep styling” (who knew?). Sleep styling sees us prioritizing our clothes over our hair, changing a top or shoes daily, but only ever alternating between one or two hairstyles.

TRESemmé discovered that when it comes to hair,  43 per cent of us go for 'down and natural' while 23 per cent opt for the classic pony, always! The reason being, that we often feel we don't have the skills to 'do our hair' and we're often reluctant to use products, even for a tiny tweak that could change standard to stand-out!

And this Beauty Reviewer’s, was the insight behind the Tresemme 365 project. A yearlong project designed to stimulate our thinking and inspire every day NZ girls, to think and try different styles.

Now before you start chuntering all you busy people, that you just don’t have the time to think about one more thing in the morning (hence the aforementioned sleep styling), this isn’t about “hard”. This is about giving us inspiration for small hair wins, which can just make all the difference.

Meet Anna-Lise she’s the kiwi girl who has the lofty task of trying different styles for 365 days!

She already has a hectic job, and a hectic life, but by her own admission, she needs to be challenged to go  out of her comfort zone when it comes to her hair.

As part of the TRESemme 365 project, Anna-LIse has accepted the challenge to post an instagram pic of her hair, every day for a year!  Regardless of how it looks, or how busy she is!

"I'm hoping to learn that styling your hair each day, with a busy work schedule, is simple, achievable and a fun way to mix up my personal style to reflect my mood, which in the past has only been displayed through my outfit choices."

She’s going to have a bit of help when she needs hair inspiration from hairstylist Luke Bettesworth, but this doesn’t mean she’s going to be swanning down to his salon every morning. Luke will be on hand to help Anna-LIse with her inspiration, but essentially the hair choices she makes will be her own.

So what say you! Do you need to step out of your own sleep styling habits? Or are you out of the mould and already changing your hairstyle as often as you change your shoes?

Tell us your thoughts and if you are keen to get out of the sleep styling rut, check out Anna-LIse’s daily instagram post and get inspired!

I am definitly guilty of this as I have very fine hair but alot of it and due to an ongoing medical condition my hair gets stressed alot so I have tended to just have it same style , same length , and same colour now I have added foils. I admire those that can experiment, I just dont have the confidence to do that.

I love long hair for the very reason that it IS so versatile. I get bored wearing it the same way every day, but I must admit...I have my go to styles. French plait around to a side pony, out, low pony, messy bun. Occasionally I get creative and back comb some height at the top and that provides the base for me to repeat my favourite go to's all over again, but with a bit more height! Lol

oh my goodness! - i am completely guilty of the same style day in and out! while i will always style my hair - i rarely try a new style. mostly because of convenience and doing what is easiest and most familiar!!

i would be very keen to try some new ideas!

I used to work in retail and love mixing up my hair style everyday, but now that I work in a hospital with my hair up in a hair net, I've gotten stuck in such a hair style rut! Even on my days off, I either just leave my hair down (without straightening!) or pop it in a ponytail. In fact, I think in the last year I've only been using my GHD once a month or so! This sounds like an awesome challenge, can't wait to see the styles on Instagram :)

I quite like changing my hairstyles a lot, but don't ever do complicated or drastic styles. I usually switch between a lot of basic hairstyles I use every week (buns, side plaite, French plaite, fish tail, half and half, down). I usually wear a pony for sports etc and love wearing different types of plaits. I often wear my hair up rather than down because I have very thick hair which is quite long and I find it gets in the way and on my face a lot. But I definitely don't have a different style every day of the year!

Oh my goodness, following on Instagram RIGHT NOW! I only do hair out, or ponytail.. so stuck in a style rut! It just seems like hair takes too long, yet I'll spend 25 minutes doing make up. Time to change priorities!!

Bun, ponytail or down. That's all I ever do. Can't imagine having 365 different styles

10th March, 2014

I normally swap between 3 hairstyles in a week - mainly because of time in the morning before work (I work full time with a 4 & 5 year old to get ready for their preschool/school in the morning too). I'm normally more adventurous with my girls hairstyles than my own!

10th March, 2014

I have short hair, so can't really change my style that easily. that said, i can NEVER recreate the look my hairdresser gives me!

10th March, 2014

I don't even know if I could do this for 30 days let alone 365.... actually... that sounds like a challenge I might just tackle... hmmmmm watch this space

10th March, 2014

I think its a great idea, I am totally guilty of doing the same 1-2 hair styles every day!

9th March, 2014

I used to change my hairstyle everyday back in high school actually (when I actually still had the time to play around with my hair in new and creative ways, I'm so jealous of younger self!) but mostly go for either a ponytail or down and natural nowadays, whatever works with the outfit. Sometimes for special occasions I'll get up earlier to do something fancy with my hair like braids or more complex updos. I love one of her featured posts where she wrapped a neat braid around her ponytail, it's so easy and yet stylish!

9th March, 2014

Yep, I'm boring!!! When I'm at work my hair is ALWAYS in a kind of 'top-knot' sort of thing and at home it is 'out and natural' and if I'm going out I'll straighten it. And that's about as diverse as it gets for me. Sad, but true! Full kudos to Anna-Lise for even considering the challenge!! Good luck, girl!

One for shorter hair would be awesome. I've just chopped my locks to chin length and have no idea what to do with my hair now.
