Blusher and bronzer - they both have their own jobs to do, it all depends on the look you want to create.

Bronzer is used mostly to add a slight tan and can be used for some light contouring. Blusher will add a flushed cheek look. Whatever you use, the aim should be a healthy, subtle glow - no tomatoes or oompa loompas please!

Now when I was growing up I was taught it was one or the other - in that you use bronzer OR blusher. But as always, the times have changed and more and more people are using blush and bronzer together. Makeup Artist Rachael Brook recommends using bronzer just under the cheekbones to lightly contour, with a light sweep across the forehead and a little under the chin. You can then apply blush to the top of the cheekbone.

I confess, I'm still old school. I will only use blusher or bronzer, I never use both together (and if I'm honest I very rarely choose blush over bronzer.). But what about you?

Do you believe you should use blush OR bronzer, or are you a firm believer in using both? Are blush and bronze part of your daily routine, or does your blusher and bronzer use change throughout the year or depending on the occassion?

This is very interesting to know, I agree with you Nat, its always been one or the other, but I rarely wear blush so its always bronzer

I only use bronzer. I use it to contour too ;) I must admit I have never used a blush! There are so many different shades I feel as if I would pick the wrong one for my skin tone

I don't use bronzer because I don't own a palette but I was planning on get the Ambient Lighting Wardrobe palette and wear it with a blush by the same brand. I do have a small sample of benefit blush that I use from time to time. I think if I got the Ambient Lighting palette I would wear it everyday.

I actually use both! I use a little bronzer over my face, mainly forehead, down the nose, to contour jawline etc and then I add a little rose blush on the apples of my cheeks :)

I always use blush no matter what, I love blush! If I am in the mood and more so in summer I will put a bit of bronzer on but will still put blush on as well. Its pretty hard finding the right bronzer for fairer complexions as they always seem to be quite orange. Anyone got any recommendations?

I usually use one or the other, but recently I had my makeup done and the makeup artist used both and I loved it, but for a full on evening makeup look, not day to day.

It actually never occurred to me that I didn't have to use both... but in saying that, I don't have a decent blush at the moment. It's not very pigmented so when you put it on it's just a heap of glitter and that's it. Note to self, buy a decent blush!

I generally use just one and it is more than likely bronzer, it's pretty much because I haven't got the confidence to correctly apply both, I think I will look like a clown lol

I love my e.l.f baked blush that actually is a mixture of bronzer and blush together but I obviously don't use it on my whole face though hahaha I actually don't own a separate bronzer, but am going to get one soon

I mostly use both but sometimes for a more casual look I'll just use one of them. I think bronzer looks really nice as a blush too and looks goof for summer.
