Blush OR Bronzer - Or is it BOTH?

Blusher and bronzer - they both have their own jobs to do, it all depends on the look you want to create.

Bronzer is used mostly to add a slight tan and can be used for some light contouring.  Blusher will add a flushed cheek look.  Whatever you use, the aim should be a healthy, subtle glow - no tomatoes or oompa loompas please!

Now when I was growing up I was taught it was one or the other - in that you use bronzer OR blusher.  But as always, the times have changed and more and more people are using blush and bronzer together.  Makeup Artist Rachael Brook recommends using bronzer just under the cheekbones to lightly contour, with a light sweep across the forehead and a little under the chin.  You can then apply blush to the top of the cheekbone.

I confess, I'm still old school.  I will only use blusher or bronzer, I never use both together (and if I'm honest I very rarely choose blush over bronzer.).  But what about you?

Do you believe you should use blush OR bronzer, or are you a firm believer in using both?  Are blush and bronze part of your daily routine, or does your blusher and bronzer use change throughout the year or depending on the occassion?

I use both when I'm putting in effort and just a creme blush for a day to day spruce up!

Hmm, I have a blusher/bronzer half and half compact by Natio. I tried both this morning but it doesn't really show in the photo I took. Normally I'd only use one or 'tother :)

I admit I am afraid to use bronzer after the oompa loompa mishap that I had. I would love to learn thought but no amount of youtube tutorials are cutting it.

I just use blusher as I find it gives me a healthy glow but have not tried bronzer at all -Possibly I should try bronzer in summer and is certainly worth a thought.

I use both :)

My jaw dropped when I read you rarely choose blush over bronzer haha.

For me it depends on the occassion I prefer both but if I had to choose I would oompa loompa my merry way to the office.

Most of the time it is just blush for me, but never bronzer on its own. I think I'm too pale for bronze by itself, but with a wee bit of blush it can just warm my face and look lovely.

I don't know how to use either without looking like a clown hahahaha ;-)

I like blush for my pale skin.

9 times out of 10 I'll use both together as they both play such different roles. The only time I don't is when I forgo bronzer in lieu of attempting strobing, or only want very minimal makeup.

I use both atm I just feel like I need the redness in my cheeks but on occasion I will just go bronzer. In the past it was only blush and never bronzer however my blush was a bronze colour. Now I go for the both or as I said just the one. I now can't go without bronzer so if I'm opting for 1 to wear it's usually bronzer. I see how it adjusts the face from looking flat post bbcream or foundation add the bronzer you add dimension. If I try for just blush on its on I can't resist following up with bronzer. However as I said once I set my makeup I immediately go in with a bronzer.

I've tried using both together but often just find myself looking orange. Now with the paler months, I'll usually just use blush - I feel that it brings out my complexion more and makes me look fresher and more awake. Bronzer tends to make it 'muddy' looking.

I am old school, I will only use either or. I never thought of trying both of them together. I mite be time to experiment with it. I use blush more than bronzers.

I used to use both religiously but that was mostly coz beauty gurus did and so I could get my face and neck to match lol I'd bronze my face and take it down my neck to hide the wrong coloured foundation.

Recently I've been using strictly blush and I'm LOVING it. Love love love! I have a feeling that because I'm fair with freckles my skin just looks better/cleaner/fresher without bronzer, it doesn't seem to add value (I say that now, talk to me in a month) haha

I'm very red usually, but tan well in summer, so it's just scary adding more red to the ruddy complexion hahaha. xx
