Can a product make you blush?

Poll posted by BR Natalie.

Nars blush promises a "natural, healthy-looking color that immediately enlivens the complexion. A light application of even the highest-intensity hues delivers a natural-looking flush."

This Beauty Poll might seem a bit, erm, silly shall we say.  After all the featured product is a blusher, so why on earth are we asking if a product can make you blush?

Well Nars are somewhat infamous for their risque shade names - the particular shade of blush we'll be trialing is Orgasm.  Which is actually pretty tame when you look at the other shades!

We can't help but wonder if the name of this product has helped elivate it's status as the go-to blusher for makeup artists and celebrities.  After all, sex sells.  This particular crew member, in her neverending search for the perfect nude lip gloss, discovered one amazing lip gloss called "Sexy Mother Pucker".  And I must admit - part of the fun of wearing it is that confidence that comes by knowing you're being just a little bit naughty.

Beauty Review is no stranger to slightly rude and funny and punny names - we were the ones who introduced New Zealand to Bootie Babe Nail Polish

So how does a name shape your response to a product?  Are you more or less inclined to buy a product with a name you're not going to want to say in front of your Dad?  Do you think companies like Nars are on the money by using controversial names, or are they missing the mark?

No the name doesn't bother me. I think it's funny! I love all NARS blushes and how they are named! I have NARS angelika and super orgasm but I've heard that orgasm is much better so I would love to try it and see for myself! I've been wanting to test this out for so long now!

Love the name, not 'missing the mark' at all! To me it screams fun, and totally intrigues me! It's makes me think it's made by people like me, for people like me, who just like to have a little fun! As I said, love the name, would also love to try the product!

It gives me a naughty thrill! Especially when people ask what I'm wearing and I get to see their expression

I love when companies get creative with product names, good product branding definately comes into play in a lot of my purchases. I can think of more than a few products I have been attracted to based on their name, the more fun to them!

I love the more risqué names! They do not bother me, and who is to complain when it works wonders for you! They also have other names like 'deep throat' which I find really hip, modern and sexy :) Nars 'orgasm' to me as a customer makes me feel as though this product and colour has alot of 'oomph' and the colour tone looks like it has the perfect mix of peach/pink shimmery tones too! I would honestly rather go with a product that has a more feminine, sexier and appealing name like 'orgasm' instead of a regular, boring name like 'pinkies blush', or 'peach shimmer blush'...Hopefully I get the opportunity to review Nars 'Orgasm' because I have never had the chance to try this product but have seen and heard of alot of great reviews about this. Hopefully the BR team would consider me when and if this opportunity comes up!! Thanks :) xx

I don't mind what the name of the product is, could be a great conversation started if and when people comment on your makeup and ask what it is! Such fun!

I don't mind what products are called so to speak however.. Going into stores and asking for them could be a lil embarrassing haha! I think it just adds to the quirk factor of brands if they have names that stand out! I have never ever ever used a NARS product and would be super thrilled to put this to the test, have heard amazing things about this particular product! <3

Oohhh, errrr.... a bit risqué but all in good fun. I guess they have to find new ways to market things and I havnt seen anything like that before. Yeah, why not, Id give it a go. I can just see my mother in laws face now when I tell her Im trialling some orgasm product, lol :-)

Nars blushes are wonderful... I don't mind the name, but I think it's a bit tired/ridiculous?

To me as an adult now it probably won't bother me, I may get a chuckle out of it. But in my teens if I loved the colour I may buy it but secretly hide it from my parents. We do need to remember teens and even now younger teens (not that they need make up, unless it was for a production or performance) are exposed to these as well. I feel like companies are just getting lazy or out of ideas that they have to come up with something extra risque

The name of a product wouldn't put me off buying it but depending on who I was talking to about it I might feel a little embarrassed. But then in saying that when I worked in a nail spa I quite liked reading out some of the more embarrassing names as it always got a laugh from the clients.
