People aren't one size fits all.  We like, want and need different things from our beauty products.  We see this all the time here at BR - for every top rated product, there's always one person it just didn't work for.  And that's ok - there's plenty of other products to try right?

But what happens when a la carte doesn't work?  Well it's time to ask the chef to whip something up just for you.  Oh yes ladies, you can customize many, many products across the beauty industry.  Let's check some of them out!

Foundation is notoriously hard to get the perfect match - so why not have it custom blended?!

Prescriptives used to offer in-store foundation blending, but like many business they've gone online - but it's still custom shades they're known for.  Through online consultations they blend and send foundations, although it's only available in the US for now.  Here in New Zealand you can head to Phoenix Cosmetics.  We sent a Superhero to mystery shop them and she came out with the perfect foundation custom blended for her skin!

Palettes are one of those things that divide people.  Some love that you'll experience shades you might not normally try.  Others hate that they might only love a few shades.  And regardless, there's always that one shade you dislike.  Which is why 'fill your own' options are brilliant.

Check out Makeup Geek where you can select from a range of funky palettes in different sizes, and fill them with pans of your favourite shades.  They ship worldwide and have great reviews on your favourite review site. (Right here)

The official MAC website also sell a custom palette option but for a more local option, head into Farmers and check out the Art Deco range - you can buy empty compacts and select the pans you'd like to fill them.

Nail Polish is one of our most favourite ways to express ourselves.  But imagine if you could really express yourself with a shade no one else has?!

Check out Nyall who will blend custom nail shades for you.  Oh and they ship internationally. #justsaying

Oh and while we're still on nail polish, Pretty Please Nail Polish let you name your own nail polish.  So if you think you can do better than OPI at polish naming, why not check them out!

Bath Salts used to be the perfect gift for your nanna, but now they're cool.  And what's cooler than your own personal bath salt blend?

Check out the Bathory who take you through a series of questions to help you create the perfect blend to draw a bath with.  And the website is seriously cool - those guys have a sense of humour.  And yes, they ship worldwide!

Perfume is an incredibly personal thing - so why not make one that is truly unique to you?  Check out Sarah Horowitz who create perfume blends based on your favourite notes and scents.

Are you a custom girl or did you not even realise the options to create your own products were readily available?  Do any of these gorgeous products tempt you? Get chatting below!

The Bathory website is freakin' neat! I've seen a sight similar to theirs, only it was NZ based and it was all about cereal, but it was still fun to play around!

I wouldn't be too picky about nail polish unless you want to go all matchy with your lipstick and can't find a shade but with so many brands and price options I wouldn't feel the need for custom nail polish. Foundation custom blended that was on my bucket list since I have a hard time finding my perfect shade. Palettes somewhat interest me, I was given one with a collection of Art Deco eye shadows all in good neutrals, but then you can find palettes with nudes and neutral just the same. Bath salts I'm not fussed about since I don't have a bathtub. Custom blended perfume sounds intriguing but it appears to cost a fortune so in the mean time there's a lot of lovely fragrances that retail for less and are already expensive. So I'll save up for those.

OMG! My mind has been blown... I had no idea about foundation custom blending until Superhero skingeek (Kate) article... but now... Nail polish and perfume EEeeep. I will admit I have opened new browsers to peruse these new found sites and I will warn my visa that it might hurt lol.

I loved reading about Phoenix Cosmetics custom blending, and now I'm excited about custom scents! I've bookmarked the page for future gift-shopping.. and self-shopping hehe.

I had no idea about any of these things! I would love my own colour palette and nail polish. I wish I had a bath tub so could soak in my own custom salts!!
