Do you buy Sulphate-Free?

You've probably seen products advertising themselves as free from SLS, or sulphate-free, but do you know what it means?

Sulphates like SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) are detergents.  They enable a product to get through grease and do its cleaning business.  They generally are also the foam maker in a product.

And they've gotten a bit of a bad rep of late.  So let's clear up some of the myths.  There is no evidence that SLS is a carcinogen.  It is found in many household products - shampoo, shower gel, foaming cleansers, dishwash liquid and car engine cleaners.  It's used in so many products because it's relatively cheap and incredibly effective at it's job.  And therein lies the true problem of SLS - it can do it's job too well, resulting in over-stripping skin of it's natural oils, causing dry and sometimes irritated skin.

Most people are fine using sulphates and notice no ill-effects.  But if you have particularly sensitive skin or scalp; maybe you've noticed dandruff for the first time, the first step would be trying a sulphate free product and seeing if there's a difference.  After all, if it's powerful enough to get last night's lasagne off of your glass dish, it might just be too powerful for your sensitive skin.

We're putting PURE BLEND Sulphate Free Body Wash Coffee, Vanilla & Manuka to the test.  Not only do the ingredients sound delicious, they're beneficial too!  The coffee helps circulation stimulating your skin, the vanilla mixed with the coffee smells sweet & warm.  With coconut oil & manuka honey to moisturise, your skin will feel softer after you wash than before.

All ingredients are natural & organic and completly sulphate free.  Kelly Willoughby is the founder and producer of PURE BLEND products,  a locally owned and operated business. She  wanted to make an organic and natural range of body and  home care products that were not only affordable for all but also used high quality ingredients. By keeping the packaging simple she was able to do just that. Ingredients are all as organic and local as she can get.  All products are fresh and made in small batches to maintain quality.

Who says luxury has to come with a price tag?!

I can honestly say I have never sought out sulphate-free products and have never gave it a second thought. This product sounds divine, I'd love to trial it and feel the difference.

I have heard of sulphate free products but have not gone out of my way to specifically buy them. Hmmm, would be interested to see if there is a noticeable difference though as I do have quite dry skin.

I have seasonal eczema (summer) and an over-active immune system (allergies) which results in my skin breaking out into a rash which is extremely itchy. I don't know what else to use but have tried aqueous cream but it doesn't help. It would be awesome to try something new and see how my skin reacts to it.

I've only really ever bought one sulphate free product and that was joico shampoo and conditioner on my hairdressers recommendation. It didn't really help the problem I had so would be interesting to try out something else that's sulphate free and see what the buzz is about

I've never even heard of these products. I love the comment below. I like that this is natural, usually the better it is for you, the more expensive it is. Sounds Devine though.

When it comes to shampoos and conditioners I always look for sulphate-free products. My scalp is easily irritated by sulfate products. However I have never tried a sulfate-free product on the rest of my body. It would be interesting to try out

I have never even considered buying sulphate free but that's because I did not realise it was in the products I use. It could explain why my skin is always dry and itchy, even though I moisturise day and night. I would love to give this a crack and see if it makes a difference to my skin.

You wouldnt put a blanket ban on Sulphates, but you probably want to avoid Sodium Lauryl Sulphate- its just too harsh for scalp and hair.

I only use body washes, not soap, as I thought it was less drying on my already dry skin, but I'm horrified to think that if it contains SLS I am just being scoured like a greasy plate! I will certainly be looking for Sulphate free products in the future, thank you for making me aware BEAUTY REVIEW?

I have never considered it due to the cost. My mum uses sulfate free as she finds it is nicer on her ageing hair. Perhaps it is something I should check out!
