Palettes. They conjure up an image of a professional make up artist creating a masterpiece on a client's face. But how useful are they for your average non professional?
When it comes to makeup there are those who like to experiment every day and those that like to stick to what they know suits them. Likewise some people prefer to stick to one brand and others prefer to mix it up. There are those that love palettes and those that prefer mixing and matching with singles.
Palettes and makeup sets have a way of dividing people. Some believe you'll try things you'd never normally consider, others hate the thought of paying and not being sure they'll use all of the contents. Some palettes offer better value for money than if you were to buy the pieces individually, others cost more but feature a fancy carry box. And then of course, there's those wicked, wicked sets that feature a limited edition product.
I own mostly singles. Sure I have the obligatory nude palettes but everything else, highlighters, blush, bronzers, lipsticks etc are solo products. I occasionally buy quads, if I like all of the shades. Otherwise, nope, it's not going to happen, I mean, what's the point of buying something when it's practically a guarantee they'll be at least one unused pan?!
Other people in the office, not naming names but one in particular rhymes with Dixie, are palette obsessed. When a range suddenly becomes available in palette form the office is abuzz. When said item goes on sale, well, be prepared to be shushed and flapped at until said item is secured.
Are you a palette or a separates girl? Why?

I always buy palletes because you have every colour you could need to create a bunch of different looks. I always have my go too colours that I always use but I love having the opportunity to grow and push myself to use the colours I never would have picked out as singles.
