Do you get your beauty sleep?

We all know sleep is important for our health and our appearance.  Otherwise they wouldn't call it beauty sleep right?

If we don't get enough sleep our skin suffers.  After a few nights missed sleep you'll probably show the signs - puffy eyes and sallow skin.  A regular routine of missed sleep and you're setting yourself up for dull skin, dark circles and fine lines.  Lack of sleep ages the skin.

How about some science?  When you don't get enough sleep your body releases cortisol (a stress hormone).  When you have a lot of cortisol floating around it will break down collagen - and that's what keeps your skin smooth, elastic and looking young.

Luckily for us, Oasis have come up with a great night cream, aptly called Beauty Sleep.  Beauty Sleep is a night moisturiser for all skin types (including sensitive skin).  It is full of antioxidents to protect your skin from premature ageing and it will keep skin looking fresh with anti-ageing vitamins A, C and E.

We're going to be putting it to the test - and so we're asking:

How many of us are actually getting our beauty sleep?

Babies, work, Facebook, "just another episode of Downton Abbey" - the joys of life can, more often than not, be sleep stealers.  So get chatting below and tell us - do you regularly get your 8 hours?  What keeps you up at night?  Is lack of sleep making you look old?

I get 8 hours sleep if lucky! My 8 month doesn't settle thru the night so im constantly up, it does make sense that not enough stress will stress you out, I definitely feel that. I could have early nights but my late nights are where I unwind after a busy day with my 2. Not enough sleep does catch up with you after a while

I try to always get at least 8 hours now my kids are mostly sleeping through. I can't function otherwise! I'm definitely making up for the sleep lost over the last 5 years when they were not sleeping through. Sleep is the best!

I miss sleep!!!! 3 month old in the house who's faced numerous medical/feeding challenges so far so sleep is definitely not optimal at the moment. Look forward to returning to 8 hours - hopefully sometime this year!

On average I get between 6-7 hours a night.. my skin is generally ok, apart from maybe being a bit 'dull' and its already quite sensitive anyway! This looks like a great product!

To be honest I don't remember the last time I had 8 hours sleep! 3 kids under 3 is its own kind of torture when it comes to sleeping- maybe Once they are a bit older and sleeping better I might look younger than I do now??! ;)

I try my hardest to have a good sleep routine, but sometimes life's stresses (money, work, relationship troubles, anxiety) and just too much overthinking cause me to lose alot of sleep.

no I dont sleep 8 hours wish I could, but cannot sleep if I go to bed to early, so stay awake until I am tired, i would love to try this product, does it help with sleep as well

I would love to try this, I have trouble staying asleep all night and sometimes wake up feeling exhausted. I know it shows in my skin.

I try to get at least 8 hours but often I find myself sleep deprived. During my university days, I had lectures from 8am-5pm, plus 3 hour labs and additional tutorials for all my papers every week... My days were tiring and it seems as though I always had something to finish off before bed, and I ended up still thinking about it before I fell asleep. I usually got 6-7 hours of sleep per night. This made me look tired all the time and it stressed me out, which also had bad effects on my skin, making it look washed out and dull. Hopefully things will be better this year! This cream sounds like it would be amazing!!

I try but mostly I would be lucky to get 5 hours interrupted sleep. It's not often I wake up feeling refreshed, nor looking it either. I find it hard to wind down, my mind is always racing, drives me crazy. So yes I'm sure I would benefit from some "Beauty Sleep", not to mention some actual sleep! Anything that might remotely improve my tired skin would be very welcome!

I love my sleep but gind recently and I guess because of school hols too I have been going to bed quite late and have certainly noticed I dint looked quite so refreshed inthe mornings. As a busy Mum it takes all my time just to get out of the house in the mornings. I definitely need to get more sleep... maybe one day?????

I'm always tired in the mornings if I'm lucky I'll get to sleep at 10.30pm which is good for me. I Iove my sleep this night cream may be a good start of a routine! Shower moisturise Facebook and then sleep. I do notice my skin is not as smooth and clear when I'm lacking sleep and water :)

Well I was just thinking as I dragged myself out of bed this morning after once again a sleep interrupted by waking at least 4 times - I have even tried magnesium at night but to no avail. My eyes were all puffy and had huge bags under them - very wrinkly! I am 47 and wouldnt expect this to happen just yet. I tried the Avon night cream and that was lovely, but it has now run out - would love to try something different that may get me up in the morning looking a whole lot better than I do right now. This product sounds amazing - would love it to make me sleep as well!
