Do you judge a product by its packaging?

We're very picky about the products we buy - will the colour suit us, does the price fit in to our budget, is the product readily available?  But how much does packaging affect our consumer choices?

When it comes to cosmetics and beauty products the packaging choices are vast, from refillable pumps to lipstick boxes you can plant and grow a flower from.  And what about the designs on the packaging - this is a brand's best shot at attracting your attention, so it's not surprising a lot of thought goes in to deciding what message a products packaging will deliver.

The reason we're talking about the packaging of our latest trial product is simply because - when we opened the courier box, we were wowed!  We're used to cute packaging, we're used to innovative packaging, but the new Moreish range is just beautiful.

And it seems you agree - when we posted shots of the products on our Instagram and Facebook page almost every comment was on how gorgeous the product was.  A+ to the marketing team - they've already got us all dying to try the products!

10 great reviewers are going to put the Moreish Daily Redemption Day Cream to the test.  This nutrient-rich cream will condition and restore your face and neck. It's perfect for normal-to-dry or mature skin.  A comprehensive blend of oils moisturise the skin, restoring the protective skin barrier and reduce moisture loss, while regenerative and antioxidant properties improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines.  It contains Argan, Vitamin E, Blueberry for anti-ageing & restoring

We think this New Zealand made product sounds as good as it looks - if you agree and would love a spot on the team, why not tell us why below?  And share your thoughts on packaging - do you prefer your products look pretty as well as working well, or do you not mind if the outside is less than attractive, as long as the product inside does its job?

I think packaging plays a huge part in marketing and getting customers to buy their products. It's the first thing we see and if its not pleasing to the eye I ain't gonna lie I will walk pass it. The packaging on the moreish is beautiful the lavender pink colors and the muted mint green gives the pop and definitely eye catching which brings us to picking up the product and taking interest. The wording on the box it simple and straight forward - DAY CREAM which is pleasing to me sometimes if there is a lot going on it can be overwhelming.

When it comes down to it, packaging is nothing if the product doesn't do its job. If a product is too 'busy' with its packaging I often wonder what its actually lacking in the product itself.

Love NZ made, love pretty packaging and most of all, love anything that will be super hydrating for my dry winter transition skin! But if it's got pretty packaging it's still got to do its job, so would be good to see if it's not just a pretty cover but delivers the goods too

This packaging is very chic, I don't mind if the packaging isn't amazing as long as the product is amazing.

I guess I judge a little bit but I am very inclined to read the back of the box for what is actually in it instead of a pretty packaged box / pretty photo.

Although I do love packaging, it's not my main reason for how I choose my products. Price is a big thing to consider, for me, and then I will check reviews as well because if something is cheap or expensive, there must be a reason for it, so I check reviews online all the time. e.g. beauty review :) I's love to try this product since I have dry skin! I'm always looking for a great moisturizer!

I would love the chance to try this Moreish product as it sounds like a great option for someone with sensitive skin and I have had this brand recommended as it is supposed to be very good for sensitive skin. As I have trouble finding good products I would love the chance to try this one. For me I would rather them not pay for fancy expensive packaging if it affects the quality of the product. I would rather know the product is the best quality it can be as the packaging is only going to get thrown out in the long run.

My aging skin squeals with anticipation as I read this article. Could this be the nourishing facial cream to take me into the next decade? I love the look of the pump bottle, this it itself is a small delight to indulge in and it speaks of quality. I would love to trial this day cream. My skin is dry to normal.

I like to try a new product on the market at least once. I not that worried about what is on the outside, it is the product on the inside that will stand the test of time.

I would love to try this NZ made day cream :)

Rightly or wrongly, first impressions are very important, even though we shouldn't "judge a book by it's cover", I think it's normal to be drawn to quality looking packaging and hope that the product is quality too. The packaging of this product is very attractive, the fact that it's made in NZ is a huge plus and so convenient to pick up at the supermarket, I really hope I get the opportunity to trial this.

For me, an attractive package is the first indication of what a product may be like - lots pf flowers makes me think delicate and pretty, strong and bold makes me think the colours will be bright or scent strong, light basic packaging makes me think perhaps is is natural and eco friendly. But that is only one incentive - if I have heard good reviews for a product I would what to try regardless of the outside. I would love to try this product, great for my dry skin AND made in NZ!

I love simple classic packaging that quickly let me know what I am looking at .... Followed by smell

I would love a spot on the team. I prefer eco-friendly packaging with a product that does the job. I don't care much about how the product looks. However, it the product looks attrative and does the job, that's definitely a bonus!

Nice packaging is certainly more eye catching and I guess I am one of those who is more likely to buy a product over one with boring packaging. It's all marketing but that's what it's about. But the product inside will speak for itself given the chance. So attractive packaging is more likely to sell. I'd love to try the daily redemption having, it sounds amazing for mature skin (and the packaging is beautiful)!
