Do you judge a product by its packaging?

We're very picky about the products we buy - will the colour suit us, does the price fit in to our budget, is the product readily available?  But how much does packaging affect our consumer choices?

When it comes to cosmetics and beauty products the packaging choices are vast, from refillable pumps to lipstick boxes you can plant and grow a flower from.  And what about the designs on the packaging - this is a brand's best shot at attracting your attention, so it's not surprising a lot of thought goes in to deciding what message a products packaging will deliver.

The reason we're talking about the packaging of our latest trial product is simply because - when we opened the courier box, we were wowed!  We're used to cute packaging, we're used to innovative packaging, but the new Moreish range is just beautiful.

And it seems you agree - when we posted shots of the products on our Instagram and Facebook page almost every comment was on how gorgeous the product was.  A+ to the marketing team - they've already got us all dying to try the products!

10 great reviewers are going to put the Moreish Daily Redemption Day Cream to the test.  This nutrient-rich cream will condition and restore your face and neck. It's perfect for normal-to-dry or mature skin.  A comprehensive blend of oils moisturise the skin, restoring the protective skin barrier and reduce moisture loss, while regenerative and antioxidant properties improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines.  It contains Argan, Vitamin E, Blueberry for anti-ageing & restoring

We think this New Zealand made product sounds as good as it looks - if you agree and would love a spot on the team, why not tell us why below?  And share your thoughts on packaging - do you prefer your products look pretty as well as working well, or do you not mind if the outside is less than attractive, as long as the product inside does its job?

if it looks nice, it catches my eye and makes me want to investigate, where as if its dull and lifeless or has no appeal i will walk right past. I think packaging plays an important roll in the sales of stock..

Id love to say I dont judge a product by its packaging but I totally do! Its just so important. Pretty packaging draws you into it in the first place so it has to be nice!

Yes, I am attracted to nice packaging. I would love to trial this day cream, my skin is dull and lifeless at the moment.

oh it's so pretty! I've tried a few Moreish products already and I love them. They really are good quality products that I even thought were a little bit of luxury. I am drawn to pretty packaging but I'm aware from loads of trial & error that the packaging does not always determine the quality of the product it's self. Did I read somewhere that Moreish may be hitting the supermarket shelves too?!! That would be awesome!!!

Packaging definitely has no effect on whether I will buy a product or not. I am more about reading reviews and ingredient lists on the back of packages to make a decision on whether I will buy something or not!

As for trialling this moisturiser, I am all for testing out new products, especially when it comes to my skin care regime! I'm nearly 40 (38 to be precise), so unfortunately I guess I would call my skin "mature" xo

I try not to judge a book by its cover but the fact that the pretty packages are my favorite colour might just tip me over the edge! So pretty :)

omg yes i would love to try this im getting older sadly and i have noticed wrinkles around my eyes, my face def is not of that of a 21 year old, waaaaaaaaaaaah

I definitely think I judge by packaging. Possibly number 2 on my list, right behind 'brands and products I know'. This packaging is pretty cute, busy enough to catch the eye, I'd totally love to try!

I would say I am more attracted to pretty packaging

It is always a bonus if a product that works wonders on your skin also looks nice on the dressing table. I love having beautiful bottles and jars around my room. This packaging is stunning. Sometimes I don't go by he packaging as the most effective products can have the most unattractive packaging. I would love to give this a go and see if it's beauty is on the inside too.

Yup, I am drawn to luxurious packaging, and often judge products based on how they are presented. If they look cheap, I am pretty wary of buying. Now I've not seen Moreish on the shelves before, but that's maybe because I have been avoiding the creams and potion isles due to spending too much there in recent times. The Moreish product sounds divine and given that I'm always forgetting my neck area when I use moisturiser, it might be useful addition to my stash. Argan is my new smell and mmmmm blueberries.

I think the repackaging of the Moreish range looks so pretty and so much more appealing! Unfortunately when I tried some samples of moreish a while back my skin didn't agree so won't be volunteering for this trial- but looking forward to reading the review!

I love NZ made products and try to buy as many as possible. In terms of packaging I don't use it as much of a judgement, but my perfect packaging would be enviromentally friendly. In terms of what's on the box, I'm more likely to buy it if it says natural (like this one) or organic on it. The flower and blue packaging I think does help make the day cream seem natural and healthy and reminds me of relaxing. So in other words they've done a good job. But the only way I judge a product is by trying it; you can't judge a book by its cover after all :P

I love pretty packaging and love bold bright attention grabbing words BUT.... Some flashy products are just that.. all in the packaging and not what's on the inside A lot of my favourite products that I love to bits are in plain Jane packaging that says nothing about the goodness inside the bottle. If the best face cream was presented to me in a plastic bag I'd be all for it
