Do you know the difference between dry and dehydrated?

Do you have dehydrated skin?  When we say dehydrated, do you immediately think of dry skin?  Did you know there is a difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin?  Let's break it down.

In super simple terms; dry skin is caused by having fewer Sebaceous glands.  Dehydrated skin is caused by a lack of water.

Dry skin is a skin type.  What type of skin we have is generally based on our own individual and natural sebum production.  We might have oily skin, dry skin, normal skin or combination skin.  You can't really change your skin type, you can just improve your skin by using products formulated to work with your skin type.

Dehydrated skin is a skin condition.  It likely comes and goes, and is determined by different factors - your lifestyle, your enviroment; what products you're currently using.  You can have oily or combo skin that is dehydrated.

Dehydrated skin looks and feels different to dry skin.  Dry skin is generally, erm, dry.  It flakes if you scratch it and can sometimes feel really uncomfortable.  Signs of dehydrated skin include; a dull skin tone, more pronounced fine lines and wrinkles and dark undereyes.

We're putting L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Golden Age Rosy Serum to the test.

The oil-serum technology is specifically formulated for dry and dull mature skin, with an ultra-rich and comforting texture that has a silky and non-greasy finish. Skin is instantly moisturised and nourished with a rosy tinted radiance. Skin sagging looks reduced, and skin feels firmer for a youthful appearance.

This oil-serum is formulated with Peony native cells to nourish the skin, while improving firmness.  It promises to be as efficient as a serum and nourishing like an oil, deeply revitalising mature skin.

This was why I used to churn through moisturisers thinking nothing really made a difference. I would like to give this a go, because even though I moisturise daily I have dull tired looking skin. It would be nice to find something that helps.

I have had issues with dry skin over the years but I have issues with dehydrated skin at a concerning level at times as I am dealing with a long term illness. I have tried options and not alot of success on fair, sensitive skin. So I would love the chance to try this and see how it goes and will post everywhere to review it if it can help. I look forward to a chance if possible to make at least some of this illness easier. Thanks.

My skin has had a hard time over the past month with the weather changing and looking and feeling super dehydrated and dull. I have tried lots of serums before and usually enjoy their effect but have never tried a L'Oreal one so would love to give this a try!

Sold me at non-greasy & firming. My skin definitely needs both, with season changing my skin seems very dull & dried out. I'm a huge fan of L Oeal products including hair tools like the steam pod which helps with dry hair.

This sounds just like the thing I need. Have just come back after a month long holiday in India travelling in the desert. Skin feels very dull and dry. I love using L’Oréal serums and would be a fan forever if it brings my skin back to life.

Thanks for the explanation, I always thought they were the same thing. I used to have oily skin when I was young and I hate it. When I reached my 50s my skin started to change and now, it looks dull and I miss the look of my young skin. It will be great to be in this trial, I am a big fan of L'oreal and I think this serum could help me to improve my dull skin.

I’ve always had dry skin, even in my early 20s I had a lady at a cosmetic counter comment how my skin was like someone in their 80s…needless to say I didn’t buy anything from her ha!

I would love to try this! I had no idea they had a new serum out. I’m a big fan of loreal serums as they have worked great in the past. I’m definitely in need of this! My skin has had a hard time over the last month due to weather changes and this sounds perfect!

My daughter uses skin care with peony as it's main ingredient and it has helped her eczema so I hope this L'Oreal rosy serum has healing properties too.
