We're rapidly learning this week that Essential Oils are a gift from nature that are packed full of healing, soothing, calming and protecting benefits.

Here's our favourite Essential Oil facts.

  1. When applied topically, essential oils are in the blood stream within 2 minutes.
  2. When applied topically, essential oils are in the central nervous system within 15 minutes.
  3. When essential oils are inhaled through the nose, they travel to the brain, sinuses, throat & lungs (and then blood stream and then organs & tissues)
  4. Essential oils like working together ‘in synergy’ (combining several essential oils together)
  5. It is recommended to blend a top, middle & base note together for any blend or synergy
  6. Essential oils are over 100 times stronger than the actual plant.
  7. Essential oils are lipid soluble and are capable of penetrating cell walls, even if they have hardened because of an oxygen deficiency. In fact, essential oils can affect every cell of the body within 20 minutes and are then metabolized like other nutrients.
  8. Essential oils have a bio-electrical frequency that is several times greater than the frequency of herb, food, and even the human body. Clinical research has shown that essential oils can quickly raise the frequency of the human body, restoring it to its normal, healthy level.
  9. The effects of essential oils is cumulative  - the more you use them, the better they get!

We've teamed up with Le'esscience to give one trial team an amazing opportunity to try TWO hand blended products.  This trial team will be putting the Beautifuel Cleanser and Serum to the test.

The Beautifuel Cleanser can be used daily to help keep your skin healthy.  It will help heal pimples and blemishes and promises your skin won't be left oily, but cleansed and healthy.  The Beautifuel Serum will not only replace your regular moisturiser, it will balance your skin's PH levels.  It won't clog your pores and you should get less blemishes!  It can even be used on your hair to fight frizz and fluff!

So if you'd love a spot on this trial, why not tell us your experience with essential oils.  Do you regularly use essential oils, or products containing them, or have you never given them a try?  Is it important to you that a product be as natural as possible or are you not too concerned as long as you get results?

Thanks to the lovely Gillian Parkinson (of Le'esscience and TINKture) for sharing her knowledge of Essential Oils with the Beauty Crew. xxx

I used to use essential oils a lot for both beauty and aromatic burning. However, the apartment life and oils just don't seem to mix. It's quite sad and I should really get back into them.

Admittedly I didn't know what essential oils is until I read the article on BR. As the weather has been so changeable recently, I think having essential oil can be helpful for a light headache or runny nose. I really look forward to the chance to try it.

21st May, 2014

I have never really used essential oils as I had no idea how they were beneficial until reading this article. They sound like they could work really well, would love to try some out!

15th May, 2014

I have never really thought of adding them to my routine. I wouldn't really know what to buy.

I regularly use lavender for it's calming and relaxing effect. I like to use essential oils in a burner but not tried applying them directly to the skin as such. Products I use do contain some essential oils as I like to use natural products where possible, particularly in respect of pain relief properties.

I have never used essential oils, especially not on my face! My mum uses essential oils for all sorts (including making her own cleaning products!). I'd love to give these a go, I just can't seem to get my skin under control and its really getting to me! An artist would start with a flawless blank canvas before creating a work of art, and I feel this way about my face and make up! I need to get my skin sorted so I can be confident in myself and my make up!

Essential oils play a very big role in my families day to day health. When I need to give an added boost during winter I mix a few oils together for different reasons. Decongestant and sleep aid/relaxing being the two most frequent reasons for using essentials at the moment.

It's safe to say I am an oil convert. I had always been cynical about the benefits until I started using them about two years ago. Now I will never go back. I use a number of Le'esscience oils but my absolute favourite are the Beautifuel Cleanser and Serum. They have made my skin look and more importantly, feel, amazing. Living with an immunity condition, I have found oils have helped in my day to day life from joint pain management to controlling skin rashes. Gillian has been a big help in making sure I have the right oil for the right condition and that it is right for me. I love them so much I even buy them from the UK.

The only time I've ever used an essential oil is to help toothache - clove oil is amazing for that! But you've got to be careful because if it touches your lip it burns like a *insert naughty word here*. I can't wait to read the reviews on these products - they sound like magic in a bottle!

14th May, 2014

I love using natural skincare and especially serums and facial oil so I'd love to be on the trial team for this one. I have used some products with a little bit of essential oils in the mix but these products by the sound of probably have a higher concentration of essential oils. If I get picked for this trial I promise to write a very detailed, accurate review and compare it with the products I've used and the results I got. :-)

I used to use them all the time but have just got out of the habit. I loved the way they would make me feel and the smell when you mix your own can be divine! I try to pick natural products over anything else and definitely look out for NZ brands and use them as much as possible. This looks like an interesting trial :-).

Despite my stepmother being a huge fan of essential oils, I've never used them myself for beauty reasons. After reading all the articles and advice this week I've realised just how ignorant I've been and am inspired to give them a go. I'm super glad I picked up tea tree oil in the vault now. These products sound amazing and I can wait to hear what they're actually like - I'd love to give them a try!

14th May, 2014

I regulary use them, I have some burning away in the house at the moment as we have an icky tummy bug going round, so burning to keep away the germs, i always make my friends home made soaps, scrubs and salts with essential oils, they are amazingly beneficial and smells delish too.

14th May, 2014

I haven't had too much experience with essential oils, but they sound very interesting and would be keen to try them.

ooooh I would so love to try these!! I've never had much experience with Essential Oils other than for smelling purposes & I use Witch Hazel every now and again for cleansing (is that even an Essensial Oil??) and Argon Oil on my Hair, Skin & Nails - but have run out now. I have adult Acne that I've tried various products for with very little luck and I also currently have quite dry skin so these sound perfect for me to try!! Looking forwards to reading the reviews!
