Do you use a toner?

When it comes to skin care products, it's safe to say toners are a bit of an after thought.  Underrated.  Misunderstood.

There's a beauty myth that toners were only invented to remove the soapy residue from early cleansers - a money making ploy from brands.  And many a busy person will tell you the toner is the first thing they drop when the skin care routine gets a little slack.

Toners are used to purify and removes excess sebum from the skin and pores.  Which can be a blessing to those with oily skin.  They also leave the skin feeling refreshed and hydrated.  Which is wonderful for those prone to dryness.  In fact, toners have many, many uses, too many to go in to detail on, but here's a brief list:

  • To hydrate
  • To revitalise
  • To soothe
  • To balance the pH of the skin
  • To relax the pores, preparing them for more effective moisturisation.
  • To 'set' make up

We're putting the iconic Thayers Facial Toner to the test. Available in four varieties this product visibly improves the quality of skin, revealing glowy, moisturized skin that looks and feels healthier.  The alcohol-free, gentle, non-drying toner acts like a remedy to hydrate skin all day, helping skin feel purified, balanced and renewed.  Skin texture is visibly smoother, pores appear smaller, and skin tone looks more even - what's not to love?!

Curious about the options available?

  • Thayers Lavender Alcohol Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera is for people with stressed/sensitive skin.
  • Thayers Rose Petal Alcohol Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera is for people seeking glowy skin.
  • Thayers Cucumber Alcohol Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera people looking to cool and soothe puffy skin.
  • Thayers Unscented Alcohol-Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera is perfect for people with sensitive skin.

I’d love to try either rose or cucumber!

I'd love to try Thayers Rose Petal Alcohol Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera. Rose petal, witch hazel and aloe vera sounds a great natural combination and a real treat for my skin. I have used various toners on and off but apart from being cool and refreshing on the face after a shower, I'm not sure whether they added any value! Very keen to try and report back on how this compares with other toners.

I love a witch hazel toner and would love to try the rose or cucumber. I love to swipe over a cleansed face at the end of the work day after the makeup comes off.

Interesting trial. I don't use a toner regularly. I would be interested to put the Thayers Unscented Alcohol-Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera to the test as I have sensitive skin.

I don't use a tone because the last one I tried just smelled like alcohol! I'd love to try the Thayers Rose Petal Alcohol Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera.

Wow...I thought that toner was an old fashioned thing that didn't exist. Sounds amazing for so many things. Personally cooling cucumber and glowing rose sound beneficial.

I love the sound of the Cucumber and Aloe toner. I definitely need help with my puffy skin.

I don't use a toner, but would love to try the Thayers Cucumber Alcohol Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera.

Would love to try the Thayers Unscented Alcohol-Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera as I have very sensitive skin. Would help give me a fresh look everyday. Not a sleepy look.

The rose petal toner sounds perfect to give the skin some glow and as a nice prep prior to applying skin care and make up. I love a good toner to prep the skin prior to serums to ensure proper absorption of them and to stop myself from getting too oily throughout the day

Lavender for stressed skin sounds great! I don’t use toner, I’m definitely one of those people that felt like it was unnecessary and stopped using it but I also have oily skin so it would be great to see if it helps!

I have sensitive skin so witch hazel and aloe very either scented or unscented sound fabulous!

I would love to try another toner with witchhazel! I used to use one that lasted forever and I absolutely loved it but by the time I went to repurchase it, it was discontinued.

28th March, 2023

Have in the past but not anymore because my skin simply does not tolerate one including those made for sensitive skin.I feel they just make my skin dryer.

28th March, 2023

No. I never use toner as it irritates my skin regardless of the brand, price or chemistry.
