I wish I could go inside the heads of those who come up with beauty trends. What triggers the ideas? What inspires them? Do they spend many minutes on the toilet daydreaming? Are their water and power bills massive due to hours spent thinking in the shower? Or is it more of a case that a little fairy comes along and plants an idea, that then sprouts into fruition.
I may have just overdone it with the puns.
So recently I got wind of a new trend popping up on the 'gram. Succulent nails. And then I saw succulent hair. And it seems succulents are hot right now. Which amuses me since they do enjoy a spot of sun.
I'm not going to beat about the bush... I'm a touch conflicted about the succulent nails.
I find them pretty, because they're plants and I do enjoy a good succulent, but I keep thinking about how annoying they'd be to type with. And what if you got an itchy back and you needed a good scratch - would they fall off? Or would they be too soft to get into that irritating itch? Or would they be the perfect back scratchers ever?
So I'm on the no side of the fence, but then I see the above picture and I swoon a little. Those colours are divine. And it's like a garden on your nails. My inner pixie wants to prance about, showing them off to anyone and everyone. How talented is arozona that she can make that happen. I wouldn't even know where to begin.
Then I see this look and well, I'm in. It's a botanical masterpiece. Not that I could create the look. I'm too ridiculously unartistic for that. But I'd pay someone to.
So succulent nails get the yeah/nah/maybe/yeah from me... but succulent hair? For this conservative soul who thought putting blonde streaks into her brunette hair was a big deal, it's a no, but I can appreciate the botanical beauty.
I also love the way it can done in a soft and subtle manner or in a bold and bright style.
Of course, if colouring your hair in those shades isn't your cup of tea you could just shove a succulent in your mop and rock the trend that way.
So, what say you my beauties? Are you a fan of the succulent style? Would you step out with succulent nails? Will you be hitting up your hairstylist for a colour reminiscent of those pretty little plants? Or will you, like me, look on, admire, but not branch out...
Chat away!
The hair styles are cool but I'm not a fan of the nails
