On our quest for eternal youth, this latest discovery is going to stand out as one of the highlights.  It turns out there is a chemical, Botox, in fact a completely product-free way to prevent wrinkles and sagging skin.  Ladies, we give you...

Face Yoga.

Yes yoga for your face.  This trend has moved from fad to lifestyle choice, with books, classes and celebrity fans.  The ever-young looking Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston are said to be huge fans of pulling funny faces and roaring in the face of ageing.

So what is Face Yoga?  Essentially you exercise the muscles of the face by pulling and holding a variety of poses.  It can firm sagging jowls, smooth and minimise wrinkles and brighten your complexion by increasing circulation.  Internal benefits include easing headaches and eye strain.  It is said to stimulate collagen production which is of course the protein that keeps your skin elastic, plump and young looking.

Annelise Hagen (pictured) is a dedicated yogi and author of The Yoga Face: Eliminate Wrinkles with the Ultimate Natural Facelift.  She runs a facial yoga class in New York City.  In the UK Julia Anastasiou charges $150 an hour to teach you a 20 minute program.

To see results it's recommended you exercise your face six times a week by completing 18 facial poses, including Smiling Fish, Lion Face and Surprise Me.  You don't have to do them all at once, you can stagger them through the day; one for the bus ride maybe?

We all know the disheartening thing about exercise is it takes a while to see results right?  Well with face yoga it's said to knock 5 years off of you in just a week.  For real.

So in just 20 minutes a day you can have perky, young looking skin, without cosmetic procedures? With no risk of 'Botox Face'?  Hmmm, might be time to incorporate a Face Yoga session in the daily routine at BR HQ.

So - are you convinced?  Is Face Yoga something you'd be interesting in giving a go, or do you think it's silly to spend your time pulling silly faces?

This is an interesting article, Julia gets paid a lot for a yoga face instructor, I think if it were true I would look so young now, I pull faces like there no tomorrow lol I do 8 of the 9 techniques every day haha

Hmm I am sure we are all pulling faces as we read this lol, It is like when you see a puppy tilt it's head... you automatically want to do the same lol.

I think we should do a test... like the water challenge ;) Someone from BR of course to lead the way? (I don't think I will be popular for suggesting that heehee) cough cough... sorry! [hangs head in shame as I shuffle off to principal's office]

Sounds like they might be onto something.. you tone up your body, why not tone your face? Right? Interesting but not sure I could take myself seriously if I had to incorporate these into my daily routine! Could see myself pulling lion face in the mirror while internally questioning my sanity

I'd give it a go in the comfort of my own home if it works great but I wouldn't go out my way to join a class of face pulling haha anything to knock of 5 years !

Some of these are just my normal everyday expressions.... whoops. haha, oh dear. I definitely need to try this out on the bus! (Although I find it funny, I'm definitely not knocking this without having tried it, and maybe one day I'll add this into my (basically nonexistent) exercise routine :)) xx

Haha like a lot of the other ladies....I do face yoga every day and don't realise ;-)

Mmmmmm, can't see myself taking the time to practice yoga faces but admittedly was pulling a few faces while reading.

hahaha this is so funny, but actually I do neck muscles exercises, to try tighten that double chin that is coming with age, I must look silly driving in the car on the way to work extending my lower jaw up and out, but hey it's working slowly haha :)

Hmmm, they look like the faces I pull on a regular basis. The joy of being a mum to a 2yo. At this rate I'll look 18 bh the end of the month ;)
