Fibre Mascaras – what’s the hype?

Unless you've been living under a rock you'll have seen fibre lashes being advertised everywhere.  From reps and sellers on Instagram and Facebook to well known brands, everyone is talking about these products.

With lash serums, falsies and eyelash extensions becoming more popular and demonstrating amazing results you might be thinking can fibre lashes really compare?  Do we even need them? Well fibre lash products are boasting extraordinary claims - for example one brand declares it can lengthen your lashes by 300% with just one coat!

Now we have your attention - just what are fibre lashes?

They look like mascara - with a tube and a wand. Inside the tube are teeny tiny fibres commonly made of rayon or silk.  You brush them on to your lashes and the fibres attach to your natural lashes.  This achieves both length and volume, and can help fill sparse spaces.

Some fibre lashes are effectively a mascara with the fibre lashes in the formula but other brands are just the fibres - you will need a coat or two of mascara as well.

Price wise, as with anything you can find budget buys and luxury buys, meaning if you're dying to try fibre lashes you should be able to find one to fit in to your price range!

So what are the cons?  Well, fibre lashes are thin and quite fragile so if you're an eye rubber, they're probably not going to hold up very well.  You can also expect fibres to fall during the day.  Oh and the notorious 'spider eye' is a very real risk if you go overboard by applying layers and layers of fibres.

You only have to pop Fibre Lashes into our favourite know-it-all Auntie Google to see the results for yourself!

Have you tried fibre lashes yet?  What did you think of them?  Did they do what they claimed or were you left wanting more?

I havent Tired them as I wer contacts and am a little worried about flaking and going into eyes

I tried it years ago before it became this big thing. I just bought a cheap set off ebay for about $6. It worked really good but I found that the mascara got clumpy after a few uses or dried out in warm weather. I'm sure more expensive brands wouldn't do that though. I can't put fake lashes on no matter how many times I try, so this stuff really helps with my short lashes. Normal mascara doesn't do much for my eyelashes, they kinda stick straight out and won't curl up lol. I think my next mascara will be a fibre one!

I am keen to try one! So many to choose from!

I must have been hiding under a rock! Alas, thanks to BR now i am in the know! I'm always trying to find the right lengthening mascara, only to stop using it due to how dry it makes my eyes or how it smudges! Does anyone else find that? IDE be keen to try fibre lashes once, what's there to lose?

havent tried it but have tried a tubing mascara which seems similar I am not fussed on fiber lashes as seen some spidery looking lashes with it with clumps etc but would be keen on some good brands I worried about the fibers falling all under my eyes I have seen a leopard print type all over facebooks sites what brand is it? what do other ladies use?

I like fibre mascara but not when the little fibres fall into my eyes- ouch!

I've never tried them but I've heard mixed reviews about them. Some like the look of them, but some find it to be quite clumpy and also painful if they happen to accidentally get in your eye. I personally, don't think I'll be rushing out to get any soon.

Tried and hated, I don't like the feeling of all the little fibres in my eyes, and by gosh when you get an itchy eye it just gets so much worse with these fibres in your eye :(

Yes before I grew my eyelashes, I tried fibre mascara and yes it does give you bigger fuller and longer lashes, but made my eyes itchy and little fibres fell onto my face during the day. Was good to try

Wow!! They look awesome. Not in my budget though.

I've heard of them and heard great things but I've never tried them before. I might just make this my next beauty purchase

3rd November, 2014

I've heard of these and seen amaaazing results but I'm still super sceptical of them. In saying that I would LOVE to try it!

3rd November, 2014

I hadn't heard of fibre lashes before, I'm not a huge mascara buff, I have sensitive eyes which tend to sting if I put anything near them. I also have short lashes, so need something to make them stand out, so would try this product if I knew it wouldn't irritate my eyes.

I've been seeing lots of this product but don't think I'll try it as I'm an eye rubber and I also have a tear duct condition where one second I'm fine, and the next, it looks like I'm crying out of one eye only so would most likely end up rubbing it off. I can say that from all the pictures I've seen, it definatly makes a big difference though
