Five Eye-Opening Ways to Get Epic Lashes

Eyelashes.  No where else on my body do I tend to every single hair, every single day.  I'm serious, every morning I stand in front of my mirror, mouth open, carefully ensuring every lash is coated with mascara,  Nights out see me tweezers-to-eye tryinng to apply false eyelashes without having a complete melt down.

And it can't just be me who is obsessed with lashes afterall there's a whole lash industry full of different products and services with one goal - helping you achieve epic lashes.

1.  Cheap and Cheerful.

With an almost certainty of mess.  According to the beautysphere dusting your eyelashes with baby powder after your first coat and then following with a second coat of mascara, will make them fatter and longer.  Here's a before and after from Elle magazine.

Sure they look longer, maybe a little fatter, but also a bit clumpy.  I dunno, could just be me, but I'm not sure this one is worth the effort.  Or mess.  Or the extra mascara wand.

2.  Falsh Lashes.

I mentioned them earlier - I love false eyelashes.  There's so many styles which means you can create fuller lashes, epic lashes or crazy-dramatic lashes so heavy your eyes get tired.  They're also a nice cheap and temporary option - always a great combo for a gal to have fun with!

The downside to falsies?  They can be a bit fiddly to master and there is always the risk of one falling off, leaving you uneven.

3. Mascara

Duh.  How could we not feature mascara?!  It's got to be the easiest way to get epic lashes - no fiddly powders, no need for extra products, or salon visits.  But as you no doubt have found out, not all mascaras are created equal.  The key to a great mascara is the not so secret formula of:  Great wand + Great brush = EPIC lashes.  But what makes a great formula?  Well, the darker the formula the bolder the look, that ones obvious.  You'll also want a formula that lengthens and volumises, evenly coating your lashes.

Wand wise, well, can you get more incredible than the Max Factor False Lash Epic mascara wand?!  It has a Zoom-action tip that captures and magnifies every detail of every lash.   It was the official mascara of the Victoria Secret Fashion Show 2016, and hey, if it's good enough for The Angels...  Oh AND it's on special at Farmers right now!  #yourwelcome.

4.  Lash Serums.

Exactly what they sound like - a serum for your lashes.  You apply them daily (sometimes twice daily) along the lash line, and they encourage your lashes to grow.  The results aren't for everyone - some people find the longer lashes a bit 'spidery'.

Now Prostaglandin serum will have the most dramatic effect, but these cost around $140 for a 12 week supply.  It's also worth remembering that the average cycle of your lashes is 3 months - whatever you do to them will end when the lash falls out and the new cycle begins.

5.  Lash Extensions

Made from silk, rayon or even mink these individual strands can be anywhere from 6mm to 17mm long, depending on how dramatic a look you want.  You can opt to have extensions as a one off for a special occasion, or have regular infills.

At around $250 for a full session extensions are a bit of a luxury in the search for epic lashes - and they grow out with your natural lash cycle, but as strands are often at different stages of the growth cycle, you can expect to have the refilled every 4-5 weeks.

So there we go - five ways to get epic lashes, from the weird to the wonderful, the cheap to the crazy-expensive.  How do you get epic lashes?  Anything of this list you fancy trying out?  Get chatting below!

For my lashes I thought I would try Flash serum and it worked really well for me. I also use 2 different mascaras. One to separate and one to actually coat my lashes, the result is awesome looking lashes.

I really love trying out different mascaras

I don't wear mascara daily, but when I do want dramatic lashes, I usually use both falsies and mascara. Gives them a huge oomph factor that definitely contrasts to the usual!

I love false eye lashes. I'm a bit chicken to try extensions and serums.

28th April, 2017

I don't have epic lashes. I need lash serum to get them to just look normal, thanks Asian monolids that hide most of the length! I use Flash Lash serum and mascara. I've given up on mascaras that give a natural look, that for people with normal lashes not someone with sparse stubs.

I need to have that Max factor mascara, how incredible does that wand look! False eyelashes are great, I have straight stubborn lashes and eyelash curlers or mascara dont really help curl them. Eyelash perms are the only way for my eyelashes to curl, eyelash extensions are awesome too :D

Gosh, baby powder sounds dangerous!!

28th April, 2017

I'm using MaxiLash from www.maxilash.com :) I had eyelash extensions for a few months. The extensions really damaged my natural lashes and I decided to not have these anymore. However, when all my extensions fell out naturally, I saw that I lost almost all my lashes. They were so short that I could not even grab these anymore as opposed to before I had the extensions.

So I decided to use this serum after reading good reviews about this. In the first weeks I did not see big difference in the length or the thickness of my lashes, however I did fell that my lashes were getting stronger. I saw a really huge difference after around 8 weeks of use. My lashes got longer and I even saw the growth of new lashes and therefore, my lashes got much thicker and they look so, so much healthier! Before I also used Nanolash and RapidLash but I did not see really big results with these (carports did not work for me at all). Many of my natural eyelashes even fell off while using RapidLash :-(

MaxiLash.com's serum (unfortunately I've noticed that there are some other pages that call themselves for MaxiLash, I am using the one from MaxiLash.com...) It has really been my saviour as I was so scared that I lost my lashes. This serum has worked perfectly for me. I'm using it 11 weeks now and I am still on my first bottle (3ml). I am really excited to see how much longer and thicker my eyelashes can get with this serum.

I would definitely buy this product again. The only downside is the price... which is cheaper than many other lash serums though, but still for me its quite expensive, €59 euros for a 3 month usage, but it is definitely cheaper than getting extensions and beside its good for your lashes!

it doesn't have to be baby powder - I've had the same success with setting powder. which is much less weird to put on your face!

27th April, 2017

The baby powder is a great trick! I'm sure mine are thicker since I've been putting castor oil on my eyelids at night.

27th April, 2017

The mascara wand looks interesting but I love my EOH so much I would struggle to try another product now. I have often pondered having extensions done

27th April, 2017

I've tried all 5 ways but my favourite is the combination of a lash serum (Lilash) and mascara (MAC Extended Play Gigablack). I'm going to have to check out the Max Factor mascara. I've been utterly disappointed with the last 2 mascaras that I got (IT Cosmetics Superhero and Eyeko Skinny Brush); I just want one that coats every lash without clumps.

27th April, 2017

I am keen to try a lash serum at some point.

27th April, 2017

I've tried a serum, but didnt really like the spidery effect and it felt weird when they hit my upper eye area. I'll stick with Mascara and occasional falsies.

27th April, 2017

I just use mascara. I have my eye on that new Max Factor one!

The best way to get clump free mascara: a clean mascara wand (or disposable). Apply first coat of mascara, brush lashes with the clean wand, apply second coat, brush, etc. Do one eye at a time and don't let mascara dry between coats or it will clump.

That's interesting. Must have been a worry losing most of your lashes!

That's awful! A serum that's supposed to make your lashes grow and instead they fall out.
