Five Fab Reasons To Love Apple Cider Vinegar!

23 July, 2017 - 10:24pm by - Head Pixie | 21 Comments

By BR Amelia

We do love a good beauty find here at BRHQ, especially if its something that's already in our cupboard. Masks made from egg white, sugar and olive oil mixed up for a quick lip scrub... you get the picture. One of our favourite in-home products that has a multitude of uses is Apple Cider Vinegar. So what can this liquidy gem do to help us up our beauty game? Read on...

Deodorise.

Feet not so fresh? Grab a bucket of warm water, add a good dash of Apple Cider Vinegar and soak the smell away.

Tone.

Mix ACD with distilled water and you've got yourself a facial toner - bonus, because of ACD's antibacterial awesomeness it can help ward of those pesky pimples!

Shine.

If your hair's looking dull, or if product build up is a problem, Apple Cider Vinegar can come to the rescue! Create a concoction of three tablespoons of the vinegar mixed in with two cups of water. Then once a week, after you've shampooed, pop the mix through your hair, leave it to do its thing for five minutes, then rinse out.

'Druff

Dandruff an issue? Go for a 50/50 mix of water and ACD. Apply it to your hair before you shampoo, massage it in for a few minutes, leave it in for another few minutes, then rinse it out before going about your usual shampoo/condition routine.

Mix

Skin in a bit of a funk? BR Kellie swears by combining apple cider vinegar with her Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay to get fresher, more fabulous skin. She’s even tried it without the ACV by mixing the clay with water and she thinks the results are most definitely nowhere near as good.

Remember, when using apple cider vinegar you're going to want to dilute it - the 50/50 water/ACV rule is a good place to start - and don’t forget to do a spot test before going the whole hog!

So do tell, are you a fan of the apple cider vinegar? How do you incorporate it into your beauty regime? Is apple cider vinegar something you’re yet to try? Or do you think vinegar – any kind – is best on the pantry shelf and not on your beauty one? Chat away!

I usually start the day with a tablespoon of ACD and lemon juice and feel it is a good start for my stomach each day.

I've heard so much about ACV and definitely keen to try it for not only the health benefits but the skin benefits too. I have been trying to get my hands on the brand in the picture, does anyone know where abouts you get this from?

24th July, 2017

I've never tried it before. I'll definitely buy some and give some of these tips a try.

I love ACV! I use it on my hair and also use it to clean with. I drink 15ml of it everyday. It is supposed to help keep colds away and I have not had a cold in ages. Also my skin has been great since I started drinking it. Not sure if that is a coincidence or not :-)

My mum uses apple cider vinegar for everything including drinking it! I can't stand the stuff. I think the smell would put me off using it for most the things listed.

I'm a huge fan of ACV. I drink a tablespoon every morning and night in water for leaky gut syndrome. I rinse my hair with it - or more accurately, douse my scalp with it, every time I wash my hair, and I use it for deodorising my body and my clothes. I also have a 50/50 mix of ACV and water in a pottle in my bathroom and sponge my face with it, soaked on a cotton wool ball, twice per day. I couldn't live without it.

I have a spray bottle of it by the bath and another in the shower. Kind-of obsessed with it really.

You are a great advocate for ACV Maree!

Hi Maree, I'm a fan of ACV as well but I seem to be having little luck with it in my hair in terms of dandruff. Can you kindly sure your routine please? I mix mostly ACV and some water in a spray bottle - spray my scalp then wash my hair as normal.

I wash and condition my hair first, then rinse, then spray ACV all over my scalp rubbing it around to cover every inch. I don't wash it off usually. It doesn't smell in your hair :)It works like a charm.

You could also try just washing with ACV and leave the shampoo and conditioner out altogether.

After using for a while you get used to the smell and taste too if you are drinking.

Me too! I tried it as a toner before but the smell of it bothered me and just having it on my face felt gross.

Our good friends at iherb also sell it but I imagine the shopping on it would be crazy and it's also in a glass bottle. I've also seen it in New World in the organic section.

Oh do iHerb really sell it? Ooooh will have to check it out as I was going to make an order soon. Thanks hun. Thanks hun - will check it out in New World if I have no luck on iHerb :-)

I have heard it is good for your stomach

Julieal

It is acidic so yudo need to dilute with something though

Me too. It's supposed to be good for healing leaky gut. You can drink it before each meal and it's supposed to break down fat cells. That's enough for me to drink it hahahaha
