Fix Those ‘Ugh’ Days, Fast!

I’m sure we all have them, or most of us do… those days when you wake up, look at yourself in the mirror and just go ‘ugh’. I have no doubt we look as gorgeous as always on those days, but for whatever reason, be it hormones, lack of sleep or stress, sometimes you just wake up and feel a bit less fantastic. So what’s a girl to do to get herself from drab to fab in a flash? Try my five quick fixes aka a classic case of fake it ‘til you make it!

Skip the nude lips and slick on a pop of colour. Ravishing reds, ka-pow pinks, vivid oranges – the brighter the better. It’ll lift your look and give the impression you’re a confident woman who’s ready to take on the world. Boom!

Throw on some bronze and blush. Even if you’re feeling as washed out as a ten year old dishrag a good bronze and blush (and a bit of highlight for good measure) will make you look like you’ve been out and about embracing life and all it has to offer.

Fat days. They suck. I bet even models have them. Days when you feel more bloated, more rounded, more…well… just more. The temptation to wear cuddly clothes on days like that is real, but the problem is (or at least my problem is…) that whenever you catch a look at yourself wearing your cuddle clothes in a mirror or the reflection of a window you end up feeling worse. That’s why wearing flattering clothes is your best bet. Even if you don’t feel like it at the time, choose something that skims your form, flatters your shape and would usually make you feel great. A million bucks says when you check your hot self out later you’ll be glad you made the sartorial choices you did.

Big sunglasses are the bomb. Especially if your ‘ugh’ day is brought on by lack of sleep. Pop those babies over your peepers and you’re no longer tired, you’re glamorous, you’re mysterious, you’re a Hollywood starlet even.

The last thing I do when I’m feeling urgh and bleurgh and have to be hauled out of bed? I sing. Loudly. In the car. In the shower. Usually it’s ‘Happy’ by Pharrell. The Pixie swears by ‘Walking on Sunshine’. The First Lady is a fan of The Killer’s Mr Brightside, and Amelia gets all soulful with What A Wonderful World. Bless. Whatever your song of choice, make sure it’s one that makes you feel good, because once all those singing endorphins kick in you won’t just be faking that good, you’ll be rocking that good!

So there you have it, my favourite fives ways to feel fab on a ‘hide me I’m horrid’ day. Of course, what’s good for one person isn’t always good for someone else. You may have other ways of pulling yourself out of an ‘ugh’ day. Sharing is caring, so chat away!

A nice hot shower is great. I agree with the bronzer and blush, it adds a bit more colour to your complexion

A spritz of my favorite scent, a splash of any lippy, and YES to singing but I try to do that any chance I get... much to the horror of my family... and dancing... even just a quick spin around the lounge before heading out the door or sit down dancing while getting to where we gotta be... it all helps <3

I'm stuck at home this week due to having surgery and have been feeling very blah!! I find just putting on a bit of makeup helps me feel less like I've aged 100 years in the last week. When I'm feeling up to it I might do a face mask and I've also been using some nourishing body butter to help my body feel pampered. Lippy always makes me feel brighter and I always put on something bright if I'm going out and feel a bit under the weather!

This is a great article! Yes music always seems to work for me, changes my whole mood. I like the bright lippy idea!

I naturally have some color in my skin but on days that I look tired, I'm a fan of blush and a good lipstick to make me look more alive usually something in pink tones, oh and a white or nude eyeliner on your lower waterlines makes you look more awake. As for fat days I just decide I need to make an effort to work out that day and just roll in whatever feels comfortable or convenient.

These are fabulous tips! I love the idea of swapping a nude lippie for a bright, I like to blast some tunes to get out of the ugh mood, and a Starbucks caramel frappe always fixes my mood :)

Upbeat music and bright lips does it for me!

Far these are handy. When I'm feeling my best I always do make up. When Im down I love singing , something about it makes me feel better. I love singing two songs Te Rina and Hinepukohurangi. Definitely give a couple of these a try .

Take more care that day and at least you feels the best you can -I try and think of all the nice things I can be happy about and focus on others on my worst days so by the end of the day I am a lot more positive if not about myself about the space I am in .
