It's no secret that we do love a good beauty-focussed Instagram account. There's nothing like spending a few minutes scrolling as you take in the amazing talent that's out there. Eye-opening eyeshadow looks, arty lips, perfectly blended contour - we're here for it all. So when we heard Gucci had created a Gucci Beauty account we digitally pounced on it, and the page does not disappoint.
The page is guided by Guccis' Creative Director Alessandro Michele, and its initial posts featured works of art from across the globe, across cultures, across history, that work to present a view of beauty.
Within each post an art writer explains the image, and their explanations of the art and the meanings behind them are as interesting as the images themselves.
Since its creation the page has grown from works of art to showcasing looks from the Gucci S/S19 show. While the cynical side of us knows that as Gucci is a business the ultimate end-game would be to sell product, we do appreciate the method they're using, as the recent posts feel like that come from a place of art, and include a video that takes a look at beauty from the show's models' perspectives. It's an eerie, yet amazing watch. Check it out here.
We love the direction they're taking and can't wait to see where they go next!
Thanks for the tip, such an interesting account to follow
