Applying foundation is a tricky task. It really is a skill that you learn through trial and error. Brush, wedge, sponge, your fingers - each tool has it's pros and cons, and each tool works differently depending on the format of foundation.
In our article Foundation Tools we recommend that whatever method you use to apply a liquid or cream foundation, you first deposit the product on the back of your hand before using the tool of your choice to apply it from there. It's a tried and tested method, ensuring you don't use too much product or contaminate your foundation. It is, however, a little messy, and not something you want to be doing at your desk or in the car for a quick touch up.
Which is just one of the benefits of using a stick foundation. You can literally apply it straight to your face, whether you choose to dab it or stripe it before blending with your chosen tool. They're also great for experimenting with highlighting and contouring and the handy stick form means no more disaster foundation spills in your bag!
We've teamed up with Maybelline to bring you a brilliant trial opportunity. We're looking for 20 members to put their Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation to the test. This foundation is the first of its kind, a lightweight gel stick foundation with an anti-shine powder core. What's great about this product is that it's aimed at oily/combination skin and the stick format means there's no need to spread oils from your fingertips to your face.
How easy do you find it to apply foundation? Does the method application affect your purchase decision? Have you used a 'stick foundation' before, if so how did you find it? And if you haven't used a stick foundation before, tell us, is it something you'd like to try?

I've used a stick foundation for years and absolutely love it. Great coverage and lasts all day
