Hot Tips for Lush Lips!

Are your lips about as plump as a malnourished worm? I know mine are. Well, my top lip is anyway. It’s a thin little thing and I yearn to have a bee stung look, yet the idea of injecting fillers or doing the Kylie Jenner challenge puts the willies up me. Turns out (shock horror!) we lipless ladies can lushen up our kissers with a bit of makeup. Check out these tips and tricks!

Like anything makeup related you want to start with a good base – so reach for a scrub that contains cinnamon or peppermint oil. First of all by removing any dead skin you’ll be creating a smooth, light reflecting, surface, which helps to make your lips look bigger. By adding in peppermint or cinnamon you’ll increase the blood circulation in your lips, which makes them look even lusher. (Though you might want to do a patch test on the underside of your forearm first, because while lush lips is the goal, you don’t want to react so badly that you end up at the docs.)

Another easy trick is to apply a shiny lipstick or lipgloss - all that light reflection will give the illusion of bigger lips. If it’s just the bottom lip you want to fatten up, pop a little gloss in the middle for a plusher pout.

I have to be honest here, I’m not a massive fan of over-lined lips, but it is one trick you can employ to create fuller looking lips. Simply take a lip liner and line just on the outer edge of your lips for a natural look. Those braver can take the line further out, but just make sure it’s not so overdone it’s obviously fake.  You want people to admire your lips, not giggle at them.

Highlighting and contouring can also play a part in lip enhancement. Make your upper lip appear fuller by taking a highlighter and popping it on your Cupid’s Bow. As for your lower lip? Contour the area just below the middle of your lower lip, blend it out, and you’ll create a shadow that will make it look bigger.

One last tip? If larger looking lips are your thing, skip smothering them in a dark lipstick, especially if it’s matte, they’ll just make your lips seem flat and thin.

So do you join me as one of the thin-lipped brigade? What tips and tricks do you have for cushioning out your kissers? Sharing is caring!

Great tips! I make sure I scrub my lips regularly and apply a good lip balm before bed, and a balm with SPF for during the day. Dry lips seem to make the lips look aged. I am not sure I could tackle the over-lined and pull it off... even when I am trying to even out my lips I am wary of how close I am to the lip edge

For me my lips are alright, its my entire mouth that is small (weird I know!) I even got teased about it at school :( I would love to try one of those lip plumping devices, I would like a bigger pout but the thought of having anything foreign in my body like fillers etc makes me feel a little queasy, but I wouldn't rule it out if/when Im rich and famous LOL.

Getting lippy I wish I could get my lips to look amazing but I'm always to worried about drawing over as I've seen some terrible ones and just think omg is it really that important when it's standing out for the wrong reasons

I am lucky I don't have thin lips or large ones, but need to use a lip scrub as I tend to get dry and flaky lips.

I have enjoyed reading these tips, I really just make sure I exfoliate and moisturiser, moisturiser, moisturiser :)

Yes I have small lips, not really thin but a small mouth, so look a bit silly with bright lipstick. I wear a matt lippy and pop a gloss on top :)

I'm very lucky on the lip department. Mine are fairly full. not worried about thin lips, although I remember when I was younger I tried to down play them as much as possible.

I have thin lips. I use a lip scrub and lip plumber/primer from Sax before applying lipstick. Neither I find actually make much of a difference but I still do it in hopes one day that'll change lol

I don't know if anyone else notices this about themselves but when I shape and pluck my brows my lips do stand out more and look a bit fuller and when I wax my upper lip my brows stand out more. I don't overdraw my lips I just am not good at it but when I was a teen before I learned about contouring I used to put a bit of white cream eyeshadow (had a retractible one) in the center of my lower lip. I don't anymore but when I did as a teen I did notice my lips look a bit fuller. If I wanted to do the same now I would use a bit of a light colored lipgloss.

I actually quite like my lips...not too thick, not too thin. I use a lip balm at night only, as during the day I always have my lips covered with lippy. They are the one thing (things) that I can colour well, I have quite hooded eyes and my shadow dosent always show through.

I have thin lips and I just keep putting moisturizer on as that seems to help a little

My lips are pretty even so I don't need to do much. Exfoliating can help plump them a little as it encourages blood flow.

My top lip is thin! It makes no sense to have this lovely bottom lip and thin + fragile top lip! I've started over drawing my lip liner. It has o oh been a little while since I started even using lip sticks! I have watch a lot of tutorials but over drawing the lip is what works best for me. :)

9th May, 2016

My top lip is thinner than bottom one. Daily basis I do scrub my lip but when I go for specially occasion I use peppermint oil. After scrub just dab oil on you lips. My friend told me for this idea.

My top lip is thin, uneven and mean looking, my bottom is more plump. Over lining the top always looks terrible and just plain over lined. I really want to try the Dior lip maximiser!
