Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadow - Tiki
By BR Tabatha
It feels like yesterday that I was watching a vid featuring Drew Barrymore talking about how she thought yellow was going to be the next big eyeshadow shade. In fact it may have only been a month or two ago, and you know what? Drew was right!
Yellow is popping up bright and beautiful in eyeshadow palettes left, right and centre!
So how's a girl to wear such a potentially confronting colour? Check these tips and tricks out!
Easy does it. Going in doesn't mean going hard. If yellow intrigues you but feels a little scary, start off by using it as a gentle wash of colour over the lid, as a transition colour in your crease, or add it into your usual colour palette of daily shades so that it's part of the look not 'the' look.
Except when more is more. Want to take your yellow look to the next level? Don't be shy! Place the colour all over your lid. Pack it on. You can even bring it down and use it as a liner under your lower lash line. Add a bold wing and you've got a look that's truly brilliant (and surprisingly nowhere near bumble bee!).
Make it pop. Ditch the champagne or silvery shimmer and pop a little bright yellow in your inner corner for an unexpected, yet beautiful highlight.
Remember... to prime. If you want the colour to really pop - and stay in place - apply concealer or eye shadow primer before going in.
Don't forget... sometimes less is more. If you're going bright, then keep things subtle on the rest of your face.
Also keep in mind... Makeup is whatever makes you happy - so rock the yellow however you want, because at the end of the day if you try something and it doesn't work you can wipe it off and start fresh.
So are you saying hello to yellow? Are you a bit mellow on the ol' yellow and can take it or leave it? Or is it a straight our yeah-nah? Chat away!
I reckon it all depends on the look I'm going for. I don't normally wear yellow but I'm sold with makeupbykateryan's look.
