No matter how old you are, black nails will no doubt have featured in your life - Black nails have a way of defining people - whether they be the peeling, chipped nails à la grunge or deep, patent nails à la goth, black nails are synonymous with rebellion.
Being a nail biter through my teenage years I rarely wore or even thought about nail polish, until I hit that stage as The Mummy refers to it. I may not have been old enough for a tattoo, or even allowed my hair coloured, but my nails were mine. I could rebel with them as much as I wanted. Suddenly my short, uneven and frankly not very nice nails were made in to a statement, with the use of some badly applied black nail polish.
Which is why, on my latest Pin-athon I was surprised by the influx of black nail art. It isn't grungy and it isn't (too) sinister; it's feminine, it's pretty; it's ladylike with a razor sharp edge. I'm in love!
From simple geometric accents, to imaginative use of matte on shine, to splashes of contrasting colours, black nails are incredibly versatile. It seems with nail art, black is no longer reserved for outlining cute little images or defining lines.
What do you think of black nails? Do you rock the trend and if so how to you wear yours? If you aren't convinced by black nails do any of these designs tempt you to try them? And if you used to channel your teenage angst through your nails - is it time to go back to black?

I Like black nail polish, and there is so much you can do with it as far as nail art goes. You can put on studs, glitter, stripes, matte top coat, the works. I think black also goes with everything so it is great for all occasions. bring back black
