Is This The Easiest Gradient Nail Ever?

Oh to be magic on the manicure front. To have the steady hand that can create intricate designs, or lay down tiny jewels and specks of glitter just so. Alas, not all of us have the ability, or the patience, to express our artistic selves on our nails and find ourselves haphazardly sploshing on one shade or spending a goodly amount at our local nail salon... until now.

There's a different take on the gradient nail, and we're loving it because it's infinitely doable.

As you can see there's no fancy sponge work or requirement for peel-off latex to be seen. Just one colour family descending from darkest to lightest. What we love about this take on gradient nails is that it's the perfect manicure for those of us who failed art at school! So long as you can colour in the lines (or, if you are handy with a bit of nail polish remover) you can create this look.

Downside? You would need to have quite the collection of polish going on to put a gradient look together. BUT (justification alert!), you can pick up affordable polish, AND once you've got them you can recreate the look loads of times - which in the long run is more affordable than multiple trips to the nail salon.

So, do tell our beauties - Is this your kind of at-home manicure style? What colour family would you get your gradient on with? Chat away!

So pretty... =)

Ooh those pink/purple nails are pretty!

Although I like easy I prefer consistency and plain when it comes to my nails, unless the gradient is on one nail rather than all 5..

I like the first one! I don’t do my nails though as they chip too quickly.

You don’t necessarily need 5 different colour polishes, just one dark coloured shade, one white and a piece of tin foil or a plastic art palette. Place four blobs of coloured polish onto the foil or palette and add a tiny bit of white to the first blob, a little more to the second, and even more white to the third and fourth to create your gradients. Mix well and then paint your nails. You can use the brush out of your coloured polish bottle, just wipe it well before each colour and again before replacing it back in the bottle.

Daily use of cuticle oil will help prevent chipping & keep your polish supple. Don’t soak your nails before painting them & wait at least two to three hours after bathing, swimming or showering before painting your nails, to prevent chipping

Sadly my nails are tools not jewels so it’s easier just to keep them bare and just paint my toe nails instead.
