Acure Marula Oil

By BR Amelia

We love a good oil here at BRHQ. Rosehip. Chia. Almond. Apricot. Coconut. Olive. We love that there's an oil to suit all, that they're easily accessible... and that they can show your skin some love without costing you an arm and a leg.

One oil that caught our attention in the last few months (and that one of our fellow crew members BR Kellie is using and loving!) is marula oil. So what is marula oil and why do we need it? Read on!

Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil

What exactly is Marula Oil?

Marula oil is extracted from the seeds of the fruit of the Marula tree, which is found in the southern regions of Africa.

So what makes Marula Oil not just the good oil, but the GREAT oil?

It's rich in Omega 9 and 6, anti-microbial, filled with antioxidants and has loads of vitamin C. Marula oil is known for supporting the healing of skin, being highly nourishing, and working to reduce inflammation while also battling free radicals.

Not only is it chock full of the good stuff, it absorbs quickly and doesn't leave you with a tacky feeling on the skin.

Can anyone use it?

Those with dry, dehydrated skin could well love marula oil thanks to its nourishing nature. Due to it being anti-microbial it can also be beneficial for those who experience breakouts - however as always when it comes to skin that is easily irritated it pays to err on the side of caution and patch test first, stopping use if irritation occurs.

Is Marula Oil only good for the face?

Nope! This is one multitasking oil! You can use it on your hair to smooth split ends. Rub it into your nail cuticles. Apply it to dry or cracked spots on your body. Apply it to your scalp as a treatment. Basically, douse yourself with it and call it good (okay, that may be an exaggeration... but it really is top-to-toe friendly).

The Ordinary 100% Cold-Pressed Virgin Marula Oil

So it turns out marula oil has us covered - literally! Best of all it doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg (yes, we're looking at you Drunk Elephant, cough) with the majority of bottles we've found on the New Zealand market being around the $25 mark.

So, our beloved Beauties - is marula oil new to you? Is it on your list to try? Or is it already part of your regime? And are you loving it as much as BR Kellie is? Get chatting!

Never heard of Marula oil before. I have only used a few oils before and they mostly contain rosehip. $25 is reasonably price but would want to test first.

I don't remember if I tried this oil before. I think my fave is rosehip and jojoba oil blends.

Oh yes this sounds fantastic but I am weary of vitamin c serums and oils the vitamin c always weakens very rapidly when opened and even in manufacturing
