Last Minute Beauty Gift Ideas They’ll Love!

By BR Kellie

There’s that moment just before Christmas Day when you’re shopped out, moneyed out, tired, over it and suspect that if you hear Jingle Bells one more time you’ll find a bell and bop someone over the head with it. Then you remember you forgot something. A present. For someone. Be it your mum, dad, sister, friend, neighbour, babysitter and you just can’t bare to venture into the stressed out masses again. But you have to get the person you forgot a gift, because it would be rude not to. What’s a girl to do? Cry into the fruitcake she’s been religiously adding brandy to for the last two months? Never! Instead check out the BR Guide to last minute gift ideas they’ll love – gift ideas that don’t require too much effort on your part.

Say you’ve got a few working days before Christmas. Hit up Mighty Ape. That place is filled with great gift ideas. There’s everything from Star Wars memorabilia to beauty products, books to toys, you could probably even find the kitchen sink, or at the very least something to go into it. Best of all the shipping is super fast, especially if you’re in a metro area. One tip - just make sure the item is in stock before you hit the buy now button otherwise you could be turning up to Christmas lunch with an empty box and a promise of a gift to come.

If it’s the day before Christmas, get up early or stay up late and head to the supermarket. You’ll beat the throngs of people freaking out that they won’t have enough strawberries for the pav and you can pick up a nice gift, like a bottle of nice wine or some craft beers, a fancy box of choccies, you could even create a Summer Fun basket by adding some nice soft drinks, chips, dip ingredients, nuts, and fresh fruit like mangoes and pineapples.

Another idea is to whip into your local Warehouse – super early or super late – and pick up a quick gift from their huge range. Even better, they’ll have all the Christmas wrapping paper and cards you could possibly need, so you won’t have to worry about sourcing that too.

But what if it’s the day before and you’re down to your last few dollars? Race down to your local $2 store and get some cheap containers, then hit up your kitchen cupboards and get baking or creating. Sugar scrubs are super easy to make, just mix in sugar with olive oil, add in some lemon juice, package it up and you’re good to go. Want to man it up? Swap the sugar for chunky sea salt and you’re sorted.

If baking is more your thing, whip up a batch of delicious spice cookies or chocolate brownie. You could even make this super easy and super tasty three ingredient fruitcake for the Christmas cake lover in your life - it’s also great for taking to family lunches or dinner on the big day. To make it even more affordable you can substitute the fruit juice for brewed tea. Once cooked and cooled, package the treats up (we love this for inspiration) and you’re good to go!

Of course there’s always homemade vouchers if you really get stuck.

At the end of the day it’s the thought that counts, and if the receiver of said gift isn’t suitably impressed? Well, what’s that saying? Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.

Are you often in a last minute Christmas buying flurry? What are your tips and tricks? Merrily chat away ….

Wise words to live by and my mantra over the last few years (why did it take almost 30 years to cotton on) <3 Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.

Thanks for these neat ideas, as usual this year I am last minute shopping.

Great article!!!

Mighty-ape are fantastic- am always amazed how quickly my orders arrive from them. Warehouse stationary are also renown for super fast shipping-usually overnight which is unheard of for rural delivery, perfect for crafty gifts. I did almost all my shopping online this year and loved it, however my Postie lady has been particularly snarky about all my purchases!

These ideas are really great. I used to be a last minute shopper but I've changed over the years and have become way more organized now. Fudge or Tim tam cream cheese balls dipped in chocolate make great gifts Too!

I got most of mine done in Kmart yesterday. I decided that was the only shop I was going to and I wasn't leaving until I was done! I hummed and harred for over an hour and walked back and forth several times but I got it done. They have great little gifts like nail art sets and lovely scented candles and are super cheap. Personally I am more than happy receiving wine or chocolates for Xmas. And beauty products of course!

I love Christmas so always start early and love the feeling and preparation so on Christmas I am relaxed and ready to enjoy my family as that is what it is all about to me.

Bottles of wine are great! If you can't give it to someone, you can drink it. Oddly enough we went round to a friends place a few months back and he said he wanted to drink some of the wine he's been accumulating so we opened a couple of bottles and I noticed a few of the ones I'd given him in there for Christmas (Devil's Staircase, not something he would buy himself). At least we drank some good stuff!

No I can't do last minute shopping but if I had to it would be the moment the shops opened.

I usually collect stuff throughout the year to gift to people who are non-specific about what they would like for Christmas. When it comes to Secret Santa then I usually go through the wishlists and try to meet their wishes as much as my budget and time can allow. For the few people who haven't gotten gifts they're pretty good at waiting till the after Christmas sales when everything is cheaper.

Yep this is me , last minute everything next week. Wish me luck lol

I started early November knowing I was having baby mid November and didn't want the mad rush. Well lol I found myself at the warehouse today getting those gifts I had first forgotten about. I did alot of online shopping which had been super helpful. Thankfully all that is left to do is buy a couple of vouchers which is on my to do list for tomorrow

Kellie you are a woman of so many great things! I am new to mightyape, I ordered something one night and it came early the next day, Im so impressed! I love the little diy ideas too. This year I brought a few extra gifts for "just in case" and funny enough they have all been used haha.

17th December, 2015

I usually start in November and get as much as I can. I hate stress, and crowds of people really stress me out!

17th December, 2015

I really love these ideas. Got to agree on the mightyape suggestion. They have some fantastic stuff and great service.

Oh I should mention Healthpost, prices are cheaper than regular retail prices and shipping is pretty much overnight. If make an order in the morning I almost always get my order delivered the next morning.

I love their homewares! I'm always so conflicted though -everything is so ridiculously cheap to the point that they must use slave labour :/
