Can You Believe HOW many people have cut their own hair?

LOCKDOWN Beauty and US.

by BR Tabatha

Last week in the search of the facts and to uncover the truth, we surveyed our Beauty Review readers to ask if lockdown has impacted the way we look, and the way we buy.

Have we turned into a nation of women cowering in the shadows not because we’re afraid of COVID-19, but  because our body hair is now so long it needs to be blow dried?  What DIY beauty treatments has the nation resorted to?  Have we become a nation in love with supermarket beauty products, or are we hanging out for salon treatments?

Let's find out!

So there you have it.  The Lockdown Beauty numbers crunched - any surprises?  We can't believe so many salon clients have reached for the scissors and colour!  Let's hope hairdressers don't decide to add a DIY Tax!

WIN: Tell us more about any of your DIY successes or failures below and we might reward you with a spot prize from our awesome prize cupboard to boost your spirits.

I am about to go back to work tomorrow, but the 'tache has to go first. I'm going to self wax that sucker off tonight...pray for me lol.

I was so tempted to cut myself a fringe in lockdown but thankfully I didn’t this time, every time I do it I regret it. I did cut my husband’s hair though, him and his friends decided to do a mullet challenge and it was hilarious!!

I cut my fringe, did my own waxing and nails , all in all a very average job done! Can't wait to go to a salon tomorrow and get all my half hearted attempts fixed!!!

Normally only my hairdresser can touch my hair but I allowed my hubby to cut my fringe, bit shorter than I like but wasn't going out so all was good, then I had to colour my hair so got him to put some tape around my hairline, I'm blind without my glasses on but phew I was very happy with my new colour. Far better than the grey regrowth with about an inch left of last colour.

I cut my kids hair all the time... I have 2 boys so it is easy with the clippers. There was one time when it all went wrong though. It was school photo time. The night before I grabbed the clippers and cut the hair as normal. Around the ears is always difficult so I changed the clippers from 16 to 12 in an attempt to tidy the stray hairs around his ears. It all went wrong and he ended up with a chunk of hair quite a bit shorter on the right side of his head. Luckily the teachers got him to strategedly turn his head so you could tell in the photos.

My husband set up an actual hair salon for our kids with signs, hair products, the lot (he normally runs a Building business) . I warned my kids not to let him cut their hair but unfortunately they were keen. Usually they are so particular about their hair and I struggle to get my 10 year old daughter to have 1cm trimmed from her long hair. My husband brought out some clippers and actual hairdressing scissors which I have never even seen before?! We videoed his efforts, and to my surprise, he actually did an amazing job. I am no longer taking my kids to the hairdressers for a $30 trim, my husband is now their personal hairdresser. I still didn't let him touch my hair so I am desperately waiting for my appointment with my hairdresser - 10 days and counting!

Lol I wasn’t game enough to do any diy with my hair other than pull the odd stray grey out!! Am hanging out for a good cut and colour thou.

I cut my husband's hair and it doesn't look to shabby at all! I would trust him near my hair though.

I did cut my 8 year olds hair a couple of times through lockdown, and it wasn’t half bad first time but the last cut was a bit of a shambles so I sheepishly asked hubby if he could own my mistakes and take the kiddo to the barber tomorrow so I don’t have to face my shame. My own hair - I haven’t colored since Christmas time and I’ve discovered my grey and natural colour makes me look blondish (rose tinted glasses haha) so it’s been a pleasant surprise. As weird as lockdown has been - there’s plenty I’m grateful for

I havn’t done any DIY! I was made redundant during lockdown, so havn’t felt the need to do any ‘up keep’. I would like a haircut, but I’ll wait until I have job interviews lined up.

At the start of lockdown I died my hair flamingo pink - sadly what was meant to be a wash out dye hasn’t quite, so along with the little pink dots on my bathroom windowsill, I have a dark pink streak behind my ear!

11th May, 2020

I asked my husband to dye my hair. However we didn't think to clean around my forehead and ears so now the tips of my ears look rather odd and I have a weird patch on my forehead eeeek

I'm not brave enough to cut my own hair (even though I desperately need it!). I removed my peach fuzz myself and am really happy with it! I also dyed my hair purple and then pink and absolutely loved it - I am usually a very bleached/highlighted blonde. I couldn't handle seeing the dullness and regrowth so thought pink and purple would help and it did :)

I dye my hair and was happy with the end result. I will leave the hair cutting to the professionals though

Of course i cut my own hair! I cant control myself! To be fair it was the very ends because they were feelin nasty. I also redid my roots, as salon bleach burns my scalp yet the one i use doesnt ( riddle me that! ). And i save about $100 in the process hahahahaha. And i think they were both successful adventures, as im happy as larry with it!

I have also given myself a couple of mini facials but it just isn't the same! I can't wait until my appointment next weekend
