Can You Believe HOW many people have cut their own hair?

LOCKDOWN Beauty and US.

by BR Tabatha

Last week in the search of the facts and to uncover the truth, we surveyed our Beauty Review readers to ask if lockdown has impacted the way we look, and the way we buy.

Have we turned into a nation of women cowering in the shadows not because we’re afraid of COVID-19, but  because our body hair is now so long it needs to be blow dried?  What DIY beauty treatments has the nation resorted to?  Have we become a nation in love with supermarket beauty products, or are we hanging out for salon treatments?

Let's find out!

So there you have it.  The Lockdown Beauty numbers crunched - any surprises?  We can't believe so many salon clients have reached for the scissors and colour!  Let's hope hairdressers don't decide to add a DIY Tax!

WIN: Tell us more about any of your DIY successes or failures below and we might reward you with a spot prize from our awesome prize cupboard to boost your spirits.

I have resisted the urge to cut my hair and have just tied it back however my flatmate who goes to the salon weekly for a wash and straighten got me to straighten her hair for her.... turns out I'm a natural! She wanted me to cut her fringe but I didn't want her to hate me so I put that off! I will hang out a bit longer for a haircut for myself but off for my waxing asap!!

I tried growing out my grey because I was having problems with hair loss and thought a more natural approach might do wonders. Well, after several weeks, I still had the hair loss, the flat limp hair and the terrible grey growth strip. I looked and felt awful especially in those zoom meetings. I did my own amateur colour job at home and felt so so much better. In this case, the DIY (dye it yourself) worked wonders and lifted my spirits!

Luckily I didn’t attempt to cut my own hair and i actually like the length now. I enjoyed making and trying my own home made face and foot masks with all natural products..... amazed by how good it made my skin. The good thing about this lockdown was I had time for self care even with my kid home cuz I didn’t have to worry about picking and dropping.

Oh my gosh, I would never cut my own hair! I cut my sister's hair when we were kids and it was not good! haha I have made the odd facemask (with variable success!), really looking forward to beauty places opening again! I also bought the Braun home IPL machine shortly before lockdown so I've been going hard on that!

Did not touch my hair during lockdown! I’ve seen to many horror TikToks ft fringes. I did by a flawless finish brow pen which was good for tidying up my brows! It was half price from thin Lizzy & tames the brows. Super easy to use aswell!!

Really enjoyed finally emptying part used products and travel size shampoos that have cluttered the bathroom cupboard for years. Bought a set of clippers just before lock down and aced my partners hair and had time to watch tutorials to improve my usual fringe trim. Made some face cleanser to remove blackheads and most importantly researched some better skin care products. Ordered exciting skincare range online for Mother's Day to improve my skin issues. Now I'm getting older it had never occurred to me that I had some import steps and items missing from my daily routine to have my skin look its best.

Have cut my fringe and my ends ,and my sons hair with clippers .Also tried to do my grey hair regrowth but did not cover very well at all, so need a helping hand definitely!

Haven't cut or coloured my hair in the lock down or changed anything about my beauty regime/maintenence. Still saving up to get my next hair colour and cut though

I let hubby cut my hair, did my own waxing (I always go to a salon for this - I’m now dealing with a forest of ingrowns), tinted my own eyebrows and eyelashes, and dermaplaned my face for the first time ever.

I dyed my hair for the first time in nine years...I now need a haircut but am avoiding the hairdresser till the dye has faded. I love the colour but I can see bits where we missed.

However I did not touch my brows at all. That is an absolute no-no.

I have cut my sons hair (do this quite often as he really hates hairdressers), help fix up the back of my brothers hair, he did the rest himself. Cut my daughters fringe. And have tinted my own eyebrows. Lockdown has been good for learning new skills

I have cut and colored my own hair while in lockdown. Both my girls are in need of a hair cut, but I chickened out!

I’ve been washing my hair every second day BECAUSE I CAN, as I have the time now My hair is the longest it has been in a long time! It’s now past my waist I love it however the re-growth does not and my hair is SO thick so come summer it may have to go! I have thought about cutting my own fringe but it was like my hairdresser knew and she said “DON’T CUT YOUR HAIR” haha! I’ve survived the lockdown...just..

My DIY laser hasn’t been great though... it just takes tooooo long.. so my legs are now super hairy.. and warm?!

Let us know how the dermaplaning goes, I've been thinking of trying this.

I did the dermaplaning last week ... it was so much easier than I thought it would be.The regrowth isn’t really stubbly, it’s hardly noticeable, but my skin looked and felt so much better afterwards.
