Can You Believe HOW many people have cut their own hair?

LOCKDOWN Beauty and US.

by BR Tabatha

Last week in the search of the facts and to uncover the truth, we surveyed our Beauty Review readers to ask if lockdown has impacted the way we look, and the way we buy.

Have we turned into a nation of women cowering in the shadows not because we’re afraid of COVID-19, but  because our body hair is now so long it needs to be blow dried?  What DIY beauty treatments has the nation resorted to?  Have we become a nation in love with supermarket beauty products, or are we hanging out for salon treatments?

Let's find out!

So there you have it.  The Lockdown Beauty numbers crunched - any surprises?  We can't believe so many salon clients have reached for the scissors and colour!  Let's hope hairdressers don't decide to add a DIY Tax!

WIN: Tell us more about any of your DIY successes or failures below and we might reward you with a spot prize from our awesome prize cupboard to boost your spirits.

I have done it all diy. I tried my own brazillian and when I tried to do around the lips I just couldn’t pull it off, I asked my partner to help and as I started to explain how to do it he tore it off, along with some skin leaving me sittinf there covered in blood crying in pain - never again haha

I've not done any DIY but I NEED my hair coloured - my husband refuses so my mum does it (my hair is quite long). I have a few cm of grey regrowth. It's awful because I'm only in my mid-thirties.

But I did get to play with hair chalk on my kids' hair and experiment with makeup

I tried to cut my daughter hair first time and Done a terrible job . She is only 9 months that is why she doesn’t know what I have done. She looks so funny . I am sorry my little bubba

Em... i’ve only trimmed my fringe for a small touch up and that’s about it really. I prefer my own natural hair colour. I’ve been working since the lockdown so Instead of doing any creative DIY.. i have been spending more on groceries and online shopping hahahaha. When it finally comes to my day off i would finish my night with a hydrating face mask.

I have resisted the urge to touch my hair and consequently it is a wee bit longer. I’m actually liking the change and I’m going to persevere a little longer and see what we can do with the extra length. I did use a hair removal cream I found in the back of the bathroom cupboard but not impressed with the results and skin irritation, so won’t be doing that myself again. Most embarrassing moment was having to go to a hospital appointment with a black eye (due to a mishap trip while vacuuming). My liquid foundation had gone yukky and no matter how I tried I was unable to conceal it. I think they believed my account of events.

No way am I cutting my own hair. Mine is short and layered so I’d rather just let it grow until my appointment at the end if the month. I’ve always coloured my own hair though. Haven’t done it in lockdown as was interested to know how grey I actually am.

I have been very well behaved and haven’t cut or coloured my hair or done my own waxing! But it’s bad...real bad...can not wait for appts to be available!!!!

13th May, 2020

I managed to have a hair appointment just under a week before lockdown so haven't had to do any DIY on that. So no scissors to that otherwise it would of been a disaster! But I have certainly forgotten how long normal nail polish takes to dry and cant wait to see my nail lady to get gels.

I’ve cut my partner and sons hair during lockdown and they want me to keep going with it ughhh I said only if they clean the mess! I’ve tried some new shampoo that’s about it really.

13th May, 2020

Haha not surprised by these numbers! Saturday is appointment day for me as I catch up on everything which has not been done!

13th May, 2020

Did my own nails with gel at home! And because I didn't have to worry about looking professional I could experiment with a different design on each finger haha.

I managed to get to the 2nd week of level 3 before I cut my hair. Also cut my son's hair a few days ago....and I oop! Haha but I mean he likes the cut so that's a good sign I guess.

13th May, 2020

I keep trying to get my partner to cut my hair but he won't. We've cut all the kids' hair. He won't let anyone touch his crowning glory so is hanging out to go to the barber ASAP.

13th May, 2020

I coloured my hair so it looks Ok but desperate for a cut not willing to go that far. Also NEED waxing, my mo is out of control haha. Last time i tried to wax it myself i took half my skin off with the hair
