It used to be there was one tip for be-specatacled ladies wanting to nail a makeup look. Wear contacts.
Well those days are gone - glasses are finally being seen as the standout accessory they are. Heck, people are now so desperate to rock the eye wear they're poking themselves in the eyes. Ok, that's not true, but they are buying 'fashion glasses' - where the lenses are in fact plain plastic, with no benefit to eyesight at all.
But for glasses wearers, genuine or fashionista, makeup can still be a bit of a challenge, so I've asked the glasses-wearers of BRHQ for their top tips. Here's what they came up with:
- Glasses cast shadows, so try to lighten up the eye area to lessen the dark shadows. You can use a lighter foundation or a highlighter under your eyes and down the centre of your nose.
- Strong brow game can make for a power-struggle between your eyebrows and your frames. Avoid darkening or overfilling your brows, especially if your frames are thick set.
- Switch your black eyeliner for a dark brown or deep navy - black wings can look a touch much when seen through the lens.
- That being said - don't be lulled into sticking to neutral eyeshadows - you can definitely rock a cat's eye, smokey eye or any other bold eye look - just opt for colours that compliment your frames and take into account the size of your frames as to how bold a look you choose. The more glass you have, the more room you have to play with.
- Just as for non-spectacled ladies, it's lips or eyes - choose one to play up and tone down the other.
- Even on non-makeup days use a little BB cream on the bridge of your nose to prevent those annoying red marks.
- To avoid spider lashes batting your glasses apply mascara more heavily at the lashline and only lightly towards the tips. They'll be magnified anyway! Also opt for volumising not lengthening formulas.

I don't wear glasses, but these sound like really good tips I'll be sharing with my friends who wear glasses.
