BRHQ is a busy place. We have the Beauty Elves, sourcing content, looks and ideas. Loading up products and moderating reviews. The Beauty Pixies are busy in the warehouse, packing Best Beauty Box Ever orders, sending out trial products or picking prizes. The Beauty Boffins are chasing gremlins.
And on the front line? Three women. A squillion duties. One mission. To make New Zealand's largest beauty resource the best.
Wanna put a face to the names? Let me introduce you.
Queenie
Name: Merilyn
Crew origins: [Nat] Queenie doesn't have a crew origin - she is the crew origin. She came up with the idea of Beauty Review and made it a reality. We'll be profiling Queenie in detail next week, so stay tuned, she is an inspirational woman who the crew are lucky enough to call a mentor and a friend.
What do you do at BRHQ: [Nat] Queenie oversees everything for both companies. Seriously, you do not want to see the number of tabs open in her browser on any given day. It scares the Dior out of meI
My Favourite Best Beauty Box Ever: Design wise it's the Hair Box - Product wise it's the Top Rated - I love the articles that are wrapped around it. But the hair box is just SOOOOOO cute!
- Mellow LIp Paint in Puerto Rico
- L'OREAL Lumi Magique Primer
- Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara
- I'm a Game of Thrones nerd.
- Cooking Indian Food is a specialty of mine
- Coke Zero addict.
First Lady
Name: Natalie
Crew origins: I was a member back in 2013 and after a couple of months I received a Facebook message and a week later I was BR's first full time employee.
What do you do at BRHQ: I am editor of Beauty Review, so I oversee the day to day running of the whole site; content, campaigns and social media. I chat with clients and members every day - if you reach out via email, FB or Live Chat over at BBBE you'll probably get stuck with me! I also write some articles and the majority of the blog posts.
My Favourite Best Beauty Box Ever: The You Won't Believe It's Hair box - it's so darn cute and all of the products are brilliant. If you need a present for someone and they have hair, buy them this!
- Maybelline Colour Drama Pencil. I can't rave about this enough. Grab one when you're next in Countdown.
- Eye of Horus Mascara. I fell in love with this back in 2013 and it's still my every day mascara. Sure I try others. But none have wooed me away.
- Trilogy Age Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream. I've been using this for about four years and when I switch to try something else I notice my skin looks dull after a couple of days. This is powerful (but super gentle!)
What I do when I'm not crewing:
When I'm not crewing I'm probably wearing a baby, watching a telly series or building a train set with 3.5 year old Milky. Or convincing The Husband that it should be us who adopts the 3 legged dog, deaf alpaca or orphaned pig looking for a home. I've only suceeded with this once - we bought home blind cat Mavis when she was five weeks old and facing the big sleep. She chases flies that aren't there, bumps into things and sleeps with her eyes open.- My nickname is Snap Snaps. My official name is Snappy Snap Snaps.
- I'm currently feeding two babies - Billy Bean (who is mine) and I've been expressing breastmilk to exclusively feed Grace for six months and counting. She spent 47 days on NICU and was literally the smallest baby I'd ever seen.
- I'm English. I drink tea at parties, say sorry when I've not done anything to apologise for and say tor-toyse not tor-tus.
Head Pixie
Name: Kellie
Crew origins: [Nat] Kellie was a member for a couple of years - she caught our eye early on because she's just so funny and eventually we decided we'd try and poach her to the dark side. We adore our gorgeous, funny and simply lovely Pixie. You can find out more about her next week on the blog!
What do you do at BRHQ: Every day is different. One day I could be writing beauty articles. The next delving into box products and organising them for the Best Beauty Box Ever. I could be loading up Vault products. Prepping prizes. Filming adverts. Sending out trials. And every day I man the forum and attempt to stave off evil spammers with my little pixie clicky fingers.
My Favourite Best Beauty Box Ever: My favourite box is the Having a Ball Box - every product in it is wonderfully useable. And it has my favourite cleanser.
- Mum Deodorant. I have loved this for twenty years. It ain’t going anywhere.
- Goodness Cream Cleanser. This is my morning cleanser and it cleans my skin without stripping it, and has this divine freshly cut parsley scent.
-
NARS Sheer Glow foundation. It makes my skin look a good ten years younger than it does, without making it cakey. Love.
What I do when I'm not crewing:
When I’m not crewing I’m running after a little human demanding and being denied cuddles. I also spend a lot of time trying to find ways to keep the husband enamoured, because frankly my housekeeping skills aren’t going to help in that realm. And I write. More about that to come…
Three things about me:
-
I once won second prize at our school pet show for a pet worm. My sister got to take the dog, so I had to find a pet of my own. So I dug up a worm, kept it in a big glass jar covered in black paper so it felt happy. Learnt all there was to learn about worms, and wowed them with my knowledge on the day. I lost out to a giant sea slug. I can live with that.
-
When I’m not being a Mummy, Wifey or Head Pixie, I’m an aspiring romance writer. I’ve written a handful of terrible books, which will never see the light of day. And a couple of books I’m really proud of that I hope one day will see the light of day. And I have a Mills & Boon author’s tick of approval, so even on my worst ‘I suck, I’m a hack’ days, I know I’m not that bad.
-
If you want to keep me happy, feed me. I love food. Except mushrooms and salmon. One is gross, the other is delicious but makes me incredibly ill for a few days. But the rest of it? The more the merrier, the happier the Pixie.
I didn't know you were a writer kellie, that's so cool.
