Out there Nail Art! Would you? Should you?

Nail art.  Remember when you felt daring choosing a bright colour?  Or felt blinging with diamante accents? Or felt like a real wild one, sporting a contrasting feature nail?  Well like most fashion statements, what was once 'crazy' becomes more mainstream, paving the way for even more adventurous designs.

And by adventurous, we mean, bloody bonkers!  This type of nail art seems to fit in to two catergories:

For display purposes only - you couldn't even scratch your nose sporting these designs - like the headline shot for this article!

Weird but wearable  - you could (mostly) function with these nails, but you'll clock up stares throughout the day.

And it's the weird but wearable designs we're becoming slightly obsessed with at BR HQ.  From nails encrusted to the extreme with sparkly boulders, plastic characters and erm, birdcages; to nails with drawn on designs from pop culture to the outright creepy.

Here's a few of our favourites

Katy Perry - William, Kate and George Royal Nails

KayleighOC - Edward Scissorhands Nail Art

Superhybrid - The Little Mermaid Nails

Robin Hobson - Hello Kitty Nails

Sarah Hyland - Coachella Nails

Janet Riffe - Fast Food Nail Art

What do you think of out-there nail art?  Should you?  Could you?  Would you?  And if you do-do, what crazy designs have you rocked? Why not share your creations with us on Facebook , Twitter (@nzbeautyreview) or Instagram (@beautyreviewnz) - we'd love to see them!

Aw the little mermaid nails are so cute! They're almost wearable apart from the slightly inconvenient tail. I'd never have such extravagant nails, expecially the 3D ones since I play piano but I love to experiment with what I've got.

I don't mind the ones with branding and logos on them. Can be incorporated in different ways to create fun/ happy and interesting nails. Perhaps the 3D ones are a bit complex, and unrealistic? Although from experience with nail art, you get used to it, and adapt! and yes, dishes can be done!

Very creative but a bit too OTT for me. My trusty Revelon range still does a good job :)

They are very clever but I wouldn't wear them personally they would annoy me and get in the way

14th July, 2014

Wow these are crazy! I've just started using tiny gems when I do my gels and even they are enough to annoy me!

I think it takes great skill to do detailed nail art like this, so hats off to the people who can do this and pull it off. But personally, its not for me. I love nail art and do it on my nails all the time, but this is a bit OTT for me, especially the scissor design one.

I wouldn't spend money on any of these designs when there's so many more wearable functional nail art designs out there. However if someone wanted to do my nails for a contest or something and then do a photo shoot and then remove the design and stickers, plants, trees, beads, metal spikes and whatever sort of stuff that was glued on to make the design 3 cms high and they could apply and then remove all of it without damaging my natural nails sure I'd be game for that.

Nope these are not for me, I prefer my nail art to be flat, but in saying this I could be tempted to rock some extreme nail art for Halloween!

Might be ok if going to a fancy dress, but otherwise you wouldn't be able to get anything done. Imagine the bugs and bacteria you would collect in and around some of those designs in a day.

Wow there's some really creative nail art out there! Very talented! Unfortunately its not for me, I would find a way to ruin them, just like I seem to find a way to ruin my freshly painted nails.

Noooo no no no I could not deal with these, I am way too impatient plus my job is very hand on, there is no way I could function in these! Not to mention personally I don't think these look good at all

10th July, 2014

Not me, not I, I couldn't and I wouldn't! I paint my nails a couple of times a week and sometimes use a gel polish and led lamp drawing and experimenting with different designs and styles but this is too far for me.

9th July, 2014

Gosh they are amazing but not for me how on earth would you be able to do anything.

7th July, 2014

Those royal nails are pretty cool! I couldn't imagine having anything crazy attached to my nails, I just couldn't imagine trying to do the basics with them, like do you have to employ your own toilet paper wiper or something because I don't think that would be possible to do yourself!

The nail art looks fantastic, I am not sure if it is for me but the concept is great. The trouble I would have if I had to choose would be what picture I would choose to have on my nails.
