I love this time of year not only beause it's Christmas (fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-laaaaaaa) but because around this time of year Pantone releases its 'Color of the Year' and I just love seeing what they choose! This year the colour is one I feel the dearly-departed Prince would have approved of. Meet... Ultra Violet!

According to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute, Ultra Violet was chosen because we're living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination, and that Ultra Violet - a blue-based purple - will light the way to what is yet to come, from exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy to artistic expression and spiritual expression..

Is it just me or are there some pretty high expectations placed upon Ultra Violet? While I can't speak for its life-changing properties, I can certainly say it's a colour that we beauty lovers can embrace!
