The beauty industry is constantly coming up with new ideas and products - it's an exciting industry to be a part of.  From beauty apps to anti-wrinkle pillows, from beauty products for your pet to chicken poop for your lips there's always something new, strange or exciting on the horizon.

And the next big thing in makeup is...paper makeup.  No we're not talking about blotting paper, but little one-use sheets of foundation, highlighter, blush and eye and lip colours.  Thinking this will never take off?  That paper can not possible compete with all of those painstakingly perfected mousse, liquid, powder, gel and cream formulas?  Keep reading!

Mai Couture have produced these cute little papiers - they look like traditional blotting paper, but are pigmented in colours suited to their intention. Prices range from around $25 - $100.  To use, you simply remove a paper from the book and press to your face.  Apply using circular motions and build up to the colour depth you want.  Throw away and off you pop!  You can even buy stylish 'wallets' to store your collection in!

Other benefits include;

  • Easy touch-ups through the day
  • Space saving - so they won't bulk out your bag.
  • They're easy to transport - no more spills or broken compacts!
  • They're hygienic - no cross contamination from fingers, sponges or brushes.

Now if you're still thinking this will never work, how about this?  Former Vogue Beauty Director Anna-Marie Solowij has hand-picked the range for her boutique store, and she knows a thing or two about beauty products!

So what do you think of paper makeup?  Genius or a flop in the making?  Have you tried anything similar and would you be keen to try these?

I would try it but I'm not to sure How I would feel about it. It would seam strange but then I guess the proof would be in the result

No thank you - I just can't see how this would work. All I can imagine is a huge, patchy smeared mess on your face!

Genius! but I'll wait and see how the youth go with them before trying it myself...

I like the idea of it. It's interesting and innovative. But I can't see myself ever shelling out cash for paper makeup. I think I like holding solid glass and plastic in my mitts too much.

Sounds interesting! I would try it but don't think it would be that good.

Ive used those eyeshadow papers and just couldn't do it. My end result definitely didn't look how it was meant to hahaha maybe with practice? As for the foundation paper etc, I'm interested to see how it works out but don't think I'd bother with it? ?

I can imagine this would really appeal to a germ-a-phobic or a traveller - very niche market. In saying that I LOVE new stuff & if the price was right, I'd give it a try!

Wow .. This is super interesting but i can't see it working so well only because certain brushes do certain things. I can't wait to read reviews about this :) space saving tho that's a good idea !

I so don't think I would be keen to use these. I guess in my head I'm imagining that it would create clown-like cheeks? I don't know, it also seems kind of expensive to me as well!

22nd September, 2014

Hmmm...... not really sure whether this will become the next best thing, interesting though. Price is way too high for my liking. I would be interested to read any reviews if anyone does start using these. Not for me though!

22nd September, 2014

Id try them just because i dont thinkyou should knock stuff till you tried it but i do feel like a brush would be the easiest way to apply

22nd September, 2014

I would love to try that. Sounds cool. Im a busy mum. If I could apply this fast as. That would be cool.

22nd September, 2014

I just don't think these are for me.. I wonder how it would apply evenly, what the coverage would be like etc

22nd September, 2014

Sounds interesting! I would be intrigued to try them out at least :)

I didn't know such a product exists and can't fathom how it works??
