Kellie Confession: I've long been afraid of wearing colours that weren't shades of brown/bronze on my lids. Mainly because I thought my eye colour (mostly brown/touches of green/not hazel enough to be hazel) was too blah to host anything dramatic. (Heck - full confession - I thought I was too blah to host anything dramatic.) WELL. SHAME ON ME. AND CONSIDER ME TOLD.
Thanks to this amazing video from the fabulous Samantha Ravndahl, which explains how to use color theory to create beautiful makeup looks, I've learnt that little ol' me with my boring brownish eyes can wear ANY shade of eyeshadow. Which means I can wear the latest, hottest, bestest (totally a word) shade in the whole wide world....
PURPLE!!
And...... before anyone pipes up and says anything.... yes, sure, technically, anyone can wear any colour. That's the joy of makeup. But self-imposed limitations are a thing, and I'm rather good at imposing things upon my self.
BUT, not any more (at least when it comes to eyeshadow shades). No longer am I side-eyeing the heck out of purple eyeshadow shades, I'm wearing the heck out of them!
So what's out there for those of us who think purple is a right royal fab shade? Check these out!

From light liquid washes across the lid (the Stila S&G in Cloud is amazing for this), through to more intricate looks using matte shades of purple in the crease, a lilac shimmer all over the lid, and a midnight purple on the outer lid. It ALL LOOKS GOOD. It's romantic. It's edgy. it's simple, sweet, sensational. Whatever you want to be, however you want to feel, whatever you want to show the world, purple can make it happen.

It's a purple reign!
It's raining purple. Hallelujah!
Okay, I'll stop now. You get the picture. I'm all for the purple. I am here for it. It's not a scary colour, it's not just a shade for fashionable young things. It's something we can embrace, love, rock, and rock around wearing. I bow down to purple. I pledge my allegiance to it.

So what say you, beauties? Are you here for this colour trend? Is this a case of purple reigning... or paining? Chat away!
Ooooh those are so pretty! I’m liking the colour for winter and I think it would go well with my brown eyes might have to shop around.
