Style Savvy: What Matter Most When Buying New Hair Tools?

17 March, 2024 - 02:13pm by - BR-Queenie | 12 Comments

Let's talk about a topic that's probably more relevant to our daily lives than we might realize: hair appliances. Yep, those trusty tools like hair dryers and styling irons that we use almost every day. When was the last time you replaced yours? And when you do decide it's time for an upgrade, what exactly are you looking for? Do you have an idea in mind? Or do you go in completely blind? What research do you do in advance of purchaseing (ahem...look at reviews!) and how important is the price?

First things first, let's talk about replacements. How often do you find yourself saying goodbye to your old faithful hair dryer or styling iron? Is it a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of thing, where you use it until it literally stops working? Or are you more of a trendsetter, always on the lookout for the latest and greatest hair gadgets?

For many of us, the decision to replace our hair appliances often comes down to necessity rather than choice. Maybe that old hair dryer finally kicks the bucket, or perhaps your styling iron starts acting wonky and not heating up like it used to. But for others, it's more about staying ahead of the curve, upgrading to newer models with fancy features and advanced technology.

So, what exactly do you look for when you're in the market for a new hair appliance? Is it all about power and performance, with a focus on drying your hair faster or achieving smoother, sleeker styles? Or maybe you're all about versatility, wanting a hair tool that can do it all – from straightening to curling and everything in between.

Then there's the question of technology. Are you drawn to those high-tech hair dryers and styling irons with fancy buzzwords like ionization, infrared heat, and ceramic plates? Or do you prefer to keep it simple with a no-frills, straightforward appliance that gets the job done without all the bells and whistles?

Of course, budget is always a consideration too. Are you willing to splurge on a top-of-the-line hair appliance that promises salon-quality results, or are you more comfortable sticking to a budget-friendly option that won't break the bank?

And let's not forget about design and aesthetics. Do you care about how your hair appliances look sitting on your bathroom counter? Are you drawn to sleek, modern designs or quirky, colorful ones that add a pop of personality to your space?

Ultimately, the decision to replace your hair appliances and what criteria you look for in a new one is a personal one. So, tell me – how often do you replace your hair appliances, and what factors do you consider when you're on the hunt for a new one? Let's swap stories and share our tips and tricks for finding the perfect hair tools! What's important to you?

I haven't bought a new hair tool in a long time, but it seems like they have come a long way in the last few years.

It's all about ease of use and results for me. Lots of friends have brought the latest and greatest with buzzwords to boot and been disappointed. The latest was a cordless straightener- you only get halfway before it dies - what a pin!

I have considered getting new heating tools for my daughter's hair I used to have an old hair crimp wish I didn't get rid of it. I don't used heated styling tools often as I try too keep my hair healthy looking.

I'd love the Dyson range especially the hair wrap.

Definitely would only replace when broken, and then would get a replacement that was a mix of good reviews and lowest price.

It’s all about the budget for me unfortunately, otherwise I’d be getting GHD or another to brand styling item!

I only replace them when they stop working. And when I do I look for ease of use, speed and efficiency, how comfortable they are to hold, minimal damage to hair from heat styling, and nice healthy shiny hair afterwards. Since I rarely replace them I'm prepared to spend a bit more but will wait till the item I want is on sale.

My budget dictates what I can buy so often have to save for a replacement.

I don’t use hair tools that often for me to replace them yearly.

I used to like buying hair tools, now I hardly use them. Facial tools on the other hand ...

A hairdryer and a straightener is all I need. I Pretty much replace them when they stop working! Not too fussed on what hair dryer I buy but definitely has to be a decent straightener.

Completely agree. Best to look on BR first before buying or ask in the forum. I take the reviews very seriously.
