These looks for 2014 were designed by Schwarzkopf and photographed by Karl Lagerfeld.
But don't let this uber-stylish power-team make you think you need professional skills to achieve these looks. Not only are these looks simple to style, they're also pretty low effort - lazy girls rejoice!
Schwarzkopf Technical Director Grant Withnell shares the know-how you need to recreate this year's hottest looks.
Textured Hair Styles
Naturally Textured Hair - if your hair is wavy (or unruly if you prefer) matted up-dos are going to be easy to achieve and very on point for winter. Use a styling powder to add volume and lightly backcomb or crimb before you gather your hair in a bun or pin it in place.
Voluminous Waves -To create voluminous waves use a mousse for hold and elasticity to the hair, before adding Oil Mist to create shine and tame any fly-away hairs.
Au Naturel - This season it’s all about natural, air dried hair, greased roots, and sleek smooth ends. Grant tells us that "Crimping is making a return, while the 'wet scraggling' (just from the shower) look that Beyoncé has made infamous, means leaving the house as soon as you’ve dressed from the shower is actually ok to do.". So there you have it - permission from the pros to wash and go!
If you have straight hair and you’re wanting to re-create this look, be realistic about the amount of texture you want. Straighter hair works best going for a more beachy wave look - use a lot of mousse on wet hair and dry it in for added hold and add powder to create laidback matte finish.
Sleek Hair Styles
Sleek, not slick - There's a fine line between the two. One will have you looking like a goddess, the other a cliche salesman. Grant's biggest tip is "use less product". Don't slather your hair in oils and serums hoping for a mirrored shine - you'll end up looking like you've dipped your hair in a grease pan!
Ease up on the straighteners - Eh? Surely you can't over straighten your hair? Actually you can! Being heavy handed with the irons will make your hair appear flat rather than straight, and will stop free flowing movement.
Serums and oils - We might have warned you about these earlier but they are great for taming fly-aways and adding shine. Be careful how much you use and apply on mid-lengths & ends. Oil mist is great to create shine without any weight.
A final piece of advice from Grant - "Healthy hair means regular care!". The right shampoo, conditioner and treatments are vital to ensure your hair performs the best for you.
So lets have a vote:
Well I'd love big wavy hair but my damn hair looks like it's been ironed and sprayed stiff >:(
