I have mixed feelings about the 90s. Seriously mixed feelings. It was a decade where whether the topic was fashion, music or beauty the good was great and the bad … well frankly I feel the bad should have been locked in a safe, then thrown into a deep pit and covered with concrete. But trends have a way of coming back from the dead, and I’m seeing A-line dresses and spaghetti straps popping up all over the place. Those I can kind of deal with, but then I saw someone gussied up with a bit of hair jewellery, well, woah, you could have blown me down with a whisper of breath… that was one trend I didn’t see returning.
Kellie Confession: I once owned sparkly little butterfly clips that I’d use to pin back hair twists. I thought I was super cool. And much like a butterfly, the 90s hair jewellery trend has metamorphosed into something perhaps better. I’d like to think better. Or perhaps it’s just different, and one day we’ll look back and wonder what the heck we were thinking…. Again.
So what’s hot? What’s come back? What styles have our little hearts fluttering madly?
We’ve stars in our eyes for stars in the hair! How cool is this look? Bordering on ethereal it’s also wonderfully edgy!
We don’t know what to love first – the amazing purple ombre, the hairstyle, or the emerald squares making the colours pop. Want. Want. Want.
This look, while perhaps not something you’d rock up to work in or pop on before heading to the farmer’s market on the weekend, has our inner princesses swooning.
For a more subtle look you can pop little gems into your hair. (And check out ladyjustice23’s wing work… wow!)
As for those sparkly butterfly clips? We love this more adult take on them. Question? Where can we get them!?
So what say you, BR Beauties – will you be bringing back the 90s and adorning yourself in hair jewellery? Which styles are your favourite? Or will you be stepping backwards arms thrown up warding off this rebirthed trend? Get chatting!
So pretty! I love how elegant and girly they look like
