The Beauty Tips You Didn't Know You Needed To Know!

A recent office conversation:

"You know you should only apply lip gloss to the centre of your lips, right?"

"Yeah, because it makes your lips look fuller."

"That, but also it stops you looking like you're dribbling?"

"What?"

"If you apply lip gloss all over your lips it can make you look like you're dribbling from certain angles. So that's why you should only apply it in the centre."

"And because it makes your lips look fuller."

"Yeah, that too."

Well, knock me over with a highlighter fan brush - who knew we were in danger of looking like hot messes when we go OTT with the gloss? Not I. Lesson learnt - I'll just be applying my glossiest of glosses to the centre of my lips from now on and not only because it makes my lips look more lush than they really are.

That little tip (which came from the fabulous Wayne Goss) got us thinking... what other tips and tricks did we not know about that we needed to know about? So we put our collective heads together, got gabbing and put together this little list... because as well all know, sharing is caring!

Haven't had time to get your eyebrows tidied, but you need to look a little groomed? Grab your concealer and run it underneath your eyebrow - it'll create a crisp line and hide any strays!

Gone crazy with the blush? Don't wash away all your good work, instead apply a little pressed powder on top (not too much - you don't want cakeface!) and the colour will be toned down.

Don't chuck out your old mascara wands! If there's one you particularly love, wash it and use it to apply different mascara formulas. Not in love with any particular wand? It pays to keep an old clean one on hand for when your mascara clumps - grab the spare and run the clean wand through the hot mess and watch your lashes return to lovely.

Have sparse or short lashes and want them to look more lush? Don't curl them. Back away from the curlers. Instead work your favourite mascara in by wiggling side to side as you go through the lengths and then go up horizontally. You can check this gem of a tip out here. (Thanks Wayne. Call me!)

Bought a foundation that's too dark for your skin tone? Don't chuck it out, instead get your upcycle on and give it a go as a bronzer!

Want to stop the hair on your face from being prominent after you've applied foundation? Apply your slap with a foundation brush using downward strokes. Simple.

OR, if your facial hair really bothers you and you want a smoother surface to apply your makeup, grab a face razor and whisk away the unwanted hair. (And if it's something you're not sure about doing, but are tempted to try, it might comfort you to know that beauty guru's Huda Kattan and Tati Westbrook are both face shavers.)

Finding you're breaking out around your cheek/ear area? When's the last time you cleaned your phone? Disinfect that phone - stat!

So there you have it - some of the best beauty tips and tricks we think everyone should know? Are you already down with them? Are there a few surprises in there? Is there anything we all need to know? You know the deal... sharing is caring! X

Too scared to shave my face unless it was an emergency for fear of them coming back darker I pluck with tweezers

Apply your lipstick, blot, reapply, blot, reapply and then dust some loose powder with a piece of tissue between the powder brush and your lips. It'll make your lipstick last longer.

The mascara wand one I do.

I feel we need a little more proof about the face shaving. So once you've done it repeatedly Head Pixie and then can confirm that we won't end up looking all stubbly and manlike in a few months time - then I'll give it a go!

Lip Gloss is a good hint- I will try this as I have never liked the all over lip gloss look. I usually use the mascara trick and if foundation is too dark add a little moisturiser helps.I don't like shaving my face and would use a hair removing cream rather than a shaver.

The pressed powder over blush has saved me so many times haha.

1. Mix foundation and your favourite liquid highlighter for a lovely glow.

2. Define your lips and slow the process of feathering with a lip liner.

3. Make your lipstick last longer by blotting with loose powder with a tissue over your mouth. 4. Spray a clean toothbrush with hairspray and brush over flyaways.

I like removing my makeup with coconut oil on cotton wipes before I wash my face, because it's gentle, natural and doesn't dry my skin.

I always conceal my brows for a full face make up look. I love these handy tips. I admit to face shaving and I thread as well. I hate having a hairy face. If I could splurge on laser treatment , I would.

I liked these tips until I read the one about shaving your face, no! Unless you want to be that lady with the moustache! Or even worst, beard!!

Hey that's a great tip about applying concealer to the eye brows!

I agree, I'd love to hear more about face shaving from someone who's done it for a while.
