I'll never understand the articles that say 'beach bag beauty must-haves' and then go on to list a bunch of cosmetics like eye brow gel, lip tints and mascara. Not because we shouldn't wear makeup to the beach, but because most likely that's the stuff you'll be popping on before you hit the sandy shores rather than while you're at them. My beauty beach bag must-haves tend to be way more basic, but that doesn't mean they're not great. From sunscreen to deodorant, here's what you really need and why... oh, and they're all Top Rated products as rated and reviewed by our beautiful Beauty Review community!
Sunscreen - face
La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50+ - rated 4.6/5
It has to be said: before you hit the beach or pool you need to have sunscreened up to twenty minutes beforehand. That being said, reapplication is important (you can read BR Natalie's all-about-sunscreen article here for more info) which is why a good facial suncreen is a must on a beach day.
Sunscreen - body
Cancer Society Everyday SPF 30+ - rated 4.3/5
If you're one of those people who can get away with putting a sunscreen on your face and body, then you've got one less product to haul around in your day bag, and the Cancer Society sunscreen gets the Beauty Review community's tick of approval with members appreciating its affordability, the ease of application via pump bottle and, most importantly, that it works.
Lip Balm
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick SPF 15 - rated 4.5/5
I don't know about you but the idea of applying sunscreen on my lips gives me a case of the shudders. The taste, the texture - it's a no from me. That being said, your lips will also need some tender loving care throughout your day by or in the water, especially if there's a breeze about, which makes a lip balm featuring an SPF a must! The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream covers both the moisturising and lip-protective wants and needs, and is a little luxe too, which we bougie beach babes are here for!
Face Mist
Mario Badescu Facial Spray - rated 4.5/5
It feels a little extra to be putting a face spray in a beach bag. Technically you could get away with not putting it in, but there's something to be said for spritzing yourself with a product that's designed to soothe and hydrate after a day spent out in the elements. A hit of bliss on a hot day!
Deodorant
Rexona Clinical Protection - rated 4.5/5
As much as I like to imagine that I'm a delicate flower with a sweet scent to boot, the truth is after an hour or so in the sun I'm a sweaty Betty. A stinky one too, making a good anti-perspirant - like Rexona's Clinical Protection - a must. Swipe it before heading out, then keep it in your bag just in case you really give it a run for its money. That way if you stop for an ice cream or something stronger on your way home you can be confident any looks you're getting are because you're glowing with good health rather than due to a stenchy self.
