I have a friend who I adore. She is an excellent human being. Smart, witty, kind, caring. She's a big bag of wonderful. However... she is super hard to buy for. It's not that she's fussy, it's that she has a love for the fancy things in life. Why buy gold plated when you can buy gold? Why eat rump when you can eat tenderloin? You get the picture. It's safe to say that I've spent a fair few birthdays and Christmas' sweating over what to buy her, and after a few fails (not that she said anything, she's too lovely, but I've never seen her wear either the jumper or ring I bought her), I feel I've managed to nail down what a bougie lover of beauty wants come Christmas... (and it doesn't have to cost a fortune either!)
Elegance For The Win
A beautifully scented candle or diffuser is always a great gift, but for the lover of all things elevated a candle needs to not only smell divine but also look elegant. That means no cutesie label and no brand name emblazoned all over the place; what you want is a candle with outstanding packaging on top of a fragrance that will have their heart fluttering. (Honestly, I think the folks over at Downlights have it nailed with their luxe range.)
Big Brands, Baby
Sometimes it's not about the size of the present, it's about the brand. Opening a cheap and cheerful big-sized eyeshadow palette for some might be fun, but nothing gives a true makeup afficianado who doesn't mind dropping the coin a thrill like seeing a bougie brand name, even if that bougie brand name is imprinted on something smaller than the size of a business card.

Some say giving a gift voucher is a cop out, I would disagree - especially if that gift voucher comes in the form of an experience. A massage, a facial, a manicure or pedicure are all gorgeous gifts to give someone who likes the lush things in life. The key is to make sure the place you're buying your voucher from is a business that makes the effort to give the customer a beautiful experience, rather than getting them in then out like cows on a dairy farm come milking time.
While buying for the bougie beauty lover can feel intimidating, as you can see with a little thought and a touch of care, it's actually quite simple, and the joy one gets from getting the gift giving right is a present all in itself.
